I'm going back to may alma mater for a tailgate and football game tomorrow. I informed one of my fraternity brothers who will be attending that the University no longer allows glass bottles at tailgates. The following is the associated response from his e-mail:
No beer in bottles? What a pussified society we occupy. I remember a tailgate across from Grace Hall, where it was so cold, ice formed on top of your beer cup if you didn't drink it fast enough. Smooth (the nickname of a fellow fraternity brother) stole a metal trash can from Williams Hall and built a fire in it, poking air holes in the bottom with a crowbar. Now they'd probably declare a public health emergency if the temperature goes below 65 and have counselors with name badges inviting you to a "safe space" where you could pet a therapy dog and talk about how it felt to be cold.

Wife and I thought the "pet a therapy dog and talk about how it felt to be cold" part was frickin' hilarious! The high temp is supposed to be about 62 today, so I'll keep my eyes open for counselors with name badges!

The glass bottle ban sounds silly to us but today's colleges are populated with staff and students that really shouldn't be handling such dangerous objects. Plastic sippy cups are more their skill level.

You're forgetting when we were all going to be burned alive because Betty Bowhead was using too much aerosol hair spray. Also, you're forgetting that we were going to be in a new ice age, and, as I recall, by the year 2000, the polar bears wouldn't have any ice to sit on.

JJ brought most of the food, so I volunteered to bring the beer. I asked JJ what beer he wanted, and he said "Blue Moon or Stella Artois". I reminded him that glass was no longer allowed, and said I had never seen either of those brands in cans, only bottles, he said to just get him anything then. My wife and I found the big can of Blue Moon, and a similar can of Stella. He drank them both. :yesnod:
