News is still coming in, she's fine, she was in her 9 year old BRZ (the 16th birthday car with only 42k on the clock). Fortunately she has front and rear facing dash cams, and I just recently reformatted the card when she was here a week ago, so no storage issues.
From the pics I've seen so far, it's only the bumper cover. May have been a Tesla that hit her. Cops are on the scene. Story to follow.

It was a Tesla, and the driver admitted fault. I thought those uber Unicorn electric vehicles were designed to prevent this shit?!?! Clearly Teslas should be banned, cuz they can't contain their distracted liberal drivers. :willy:

I would've guessed the tesla was on autopilot. :D
Glad she's ok!
a few weeks ago, my sister was rear ended, and pushed into the car ahead of her. total loss, she'll get her settlement check tomorrow. already has a new car in hand.

Trusting she's OK?
Was she stopped at a light, or did traffic suddenly grind to a halt and the other driver was following too closely to stop? Either way, glad she's OK.

yeah, she's fine.
The dangers of my commute factored into my retiring early. Going from the burbs to downtown Atlanta and back, I was getting hit every two or three years without fail; also why I bought dash cams for everything.

She was at a stop light, chatting with my wife with hands-free, and saw it coming and told her mom...gotta go. She's aware enough of her surroundings, but had no viable out. Hence bang.
She's been bred as a driver to always maintain situational awareness, be it on the street or the track. In her 9 years of legal driving, and 5 years of pre-legal driving, she's never caused an accident.

You'll be damned lucky if the other driver has insurance, nearly 1 in 3 central Florida drivers do not, I was creamed by an Escalade in Winter Garden, FL and the driver was an uninsured "new citizen" with no insurance, no owned anything other than the 18 year old Cadillac.

He does have insurance, and admitted fault, so no worries there, but Florida is a no-fault insurance state, so she'll be fine as she navigates the BS.

Lucky, the first thing an insurance company will tell you is to NEVER admit fault, and, a lawyer will tell you not to discuss anything about an accident on the internet like saying "I feel OK" or "I should have been more careful". It could all work against you.... I've posted the "gag order" my lawyer made me sign before but you might want to warn your daughter just the same.

She's already downloaded the dash cam video too, so that's the trump card in this situation, but yes, she does not use the .net to discuss shit like this. She's very private.

Smart girl, of course. Abbey, at 20, has deleted all social media except one and harldy uses that anymore. She says, "Dad, I'm just in a much better mood now." Well, yeah.....

Somehow trump finds his way into every thread. :D
Glad to hear she's OK. I hope the Tesla driver had insurance. Florida is filled with idiots who refuse to get car insurance.

No.
Try and convince her to get one. Young women on their own are targets. I gave by Daughter a hand gun 15 years ago.

Unlike most other states (like Virginia) in Florida you can get car insurance on monthly payments, register your car for TWO years, stop making insurance payments and the cops don't show up to collect your tags. So, the sticker on the license plate for the uninsured car is seemingly legit for 24 months - the case with the clown that hit me.
And anybody in Florida better have "stacked" uninsured motorist coverage..
