I’m needing to get to Houston (md Anderson) from tulsa Okla tomorrow and want to bypass dfw .. there’s a highway that connects Hugo OKla down to Paris , Sulphur Springs , Canton and Athens , is that highway 4 lane ? We are in a 45’ motorhome pulling a car and trying everything I can to stay away from dfw but still make decent time .

Anytime I travel I just time it to hit any big cities at 3 am and breeze right through.:seasix:

Atoka, OK is a major speed trap town. Ask me how I know…

It sure is .. but there’s a turnpike that bypasses those shitholes now

Get your ass in bed and take a 3 hour nap and go. Or welcome to hell.:slap:

Anytime I travel I research thru Google Earth. Use Waze, you may go on the 20-lane highway, but if the traffic is bumper-2-bumper you'll regret it.

Have fun, nothing beats a road trip, nothing!

Think you are talking about Rt. 19. That’s 2 lane- but not busy. Typical 2 lane red lights.

Not a good way to get to Houston after I30, except I45 in Dallas. Suck it up and drive through Dallas after midnight. And where are you parking your rig? If they have any parking for that rig it would probably be over at the Proton center. Maybe the Astrodome. Take a gun, maybe 2.

There’s too much to pull together before morning so no midnite adventures . There’s quite a few Rv resorts near the med center. And I’ll have several guns :kick:

This is the info I was hoping for. It’s 4 lane north of 19 so we will get a good head of steam before we hit 19 . I don’t go much over 65 mph anyway.

Seems like every time I cross Texas line on I-35 or 75 I hit construction , perpetual construction down there . I figure 65 mph on a 2 lane will be faster and much less stressful than dfw hell

I think he's talking about US 75 to skirt around DFW. It's got lights going through towns, so it's not only a little bit more mileage, it's probably a push compared to just driving straight down I-45.

Personally, I'd try and plan the trip so that I wasn't going through Central Expressway in Dallas during rush hour. Keep in mind that Houston traffic is a fustercluck ALL hours of the day. And I hope OP has a tow vehicle and plans to park at an RV park nowhere NEAR the Houston Medical center, which is a going to be virtually impossible to park an RV anywhere close.

Hope everything goes well.

Edit: Could also take the loop 635 around through Mequite, to circle around the city center, although I bet portions of I-635 will be congested as well....it's been a while since I've been that way.

There’s a half dozen huge Rv resorts within 10 miles of md Anderson so we’re fine. We won’t hit Houston until 7 pm or so. We tow a vehicle so all good there

I haven’t decided if I shoot over to 45 at Athens or go on down to Palestine. Is Corsicana far enough south to hop on ?

You'd take 79 to go through Palestine. Coincidentally, I have a crew going there, probably Wednesday, then on to Grand Saline. As to Corsicana, yes, if you cut back to 45 at Corsicana, you will be far enough south of Dallas, plus, you'll be headed OUT of town, not in town. You should be fine.

I would stay on 75 and head down to 635 and run around but Sherman has a horrendous construction issue and just can’t get caught up there and then get held up in dfw .. I think we would hit Sherman at noon or little after.
Anyone know what’s going in Sherman and if that construction is all that bad?

Grand Saline - now there's a real shithole

Made it to Houston, via Paris, sulphurbsorings Palestine to I45 .. smooth as buttah.. but .. a fuel line connection backed off on the motorhome about 70 miles from home, had to tow the bitch back to tulsa for Cummins to sort out. Hopped in the car and made trip .. one tired mofo and lucky the big gal didn’t burn to the ground, fuel was spraying out all over the engine and exhaust. Thanks

Cummins called today to say my motorhome was ready to be picked up , I asked what was repaired and they said they just needed to tighten up fuel lines. All under warranty except he wouldn’t commit to the $3600 tow bill. :issues:

It’s not over yet.. there was a fuel rail recall and that had been completed and now this so I’ve got 2 shots left at getting reimbursed for at least half of it. I’ll keep escalating until I get out of the local shop

Give them hell it was all their fault. They need to pay all damages and compensation. :seasix:
