Got a mailer offering a free gift to join and whatnot. I'm in my 30's, but a quick gaggle says there's no age restrictions on joining.

Anyone here pay for it? What are some of the useful discounts or benefits? Pretty low threshold to come out a head since membership is just $16/yr or something like that.

I was going to join until learned their stance on guns.... You might want to check what they support or lack of support for.

No red-blooded American should consider joining that organization.

Agree with all of the above. OP would be better off joining AAA, the American Automobile Association.

I joined AAA this year just for the perk of them doing registry work. Saving me from wasting half a day waiting in line at the MASSfknRMV was well worth the membership dues. :yesnod:

Been a member for years. Had classic cars stranded and towed- the responders have all been first rate.

Except ha one guy who towed a friends VW 100 miles from the mountains to a dealership in Winston-Salem. I had to remind him who he worked for.

I wouldn't join them because of their stance on, well, everything. I don't contribute money to commies.

It was worth it back when you got a nice discount for membership renting cars, hotel rooms, etc. But now if you have AAA or lots of other memberships the discounts are as good or better...

Yep. There is an alternative that's not radically left, but I don't remember the name.

Otherwise, it's a waste unless (maybe) you travel a lot or go to chain restaurants a lot, neither of which I do.

Plus, their magazine is full of pix of old women. I don't want to look at old women, I want to look at YOUNG women. :yesnod:

Get used to it. Once you're on their mailing list it never stops. I've thrown away thousands of those. Last one just yesterday.

AARP supported Clinton (both),Obama, biden. That was enough .
That's where your dues go, not for the betterment of old folks.

There IS no 'betterment of old folks'. Just our increased alcohol consumption.:shots:

aarp are aholes, very politically aligned, your dues are paid out to socialist POSs in gov.
Been with AAA for 30+ years, one long FREE tow each year pays for your annual membership; I 'think' you get four free ones a year with Triple Gold Fancy Membership.

aarp is very much anti 2A. Anything from them goes straight into the shredder.

I have a AMA ( American Motorcycle Assn ) membership and includes towing. INCLUDING TRAILERS ( except utility trailers)
