Glad I had the opportunity to see him at Jazz Fest a few years ago. Great show and a good laugh when he walked on stage with a white cane to parody the bad call during a Saints playoff game.

I was a huge fan for decades. Saw him several times at large and small venues.

He lost me as a fan a few years ago.

He did live a very...very full life.

I pray he rests in peace in his Margaritaville.

Well damn. Jimmy was my happy place. Went to see him as a joke the first time and came home a Parrothead. Only got to see him 18 times. He did a live show they recorded at Irvine that has a crowd shot as the inner sleeve and I can point myself out on the photo. Weirdly I've been thinking about him endlessly the last few weeks as I longed to get back to enjoying living. A sailor and a pilot, he done well. Might have been political, but not in a shove it down your throat way. Guess I got a lot of CD's and LP's to pull out for the marathon.

Agree.
We were members of the local Parrothead club for a number of years.
He was super successful in business by branding the "Margaritaville" name on everything from restaurants to flip flops and hotels and casinos, etc.... I still have most every one of his CD's and a few pairs of real nice leather deck shoes (soles of the tropics)

A few of his books are really good reads. :yesnod:

He lost me when he went hollywood and went leftist political.
Particularly when he supported Gilliam for governor (you may remember the black homo drug addict) and was in favor of a state income tax in Florida.
Yeah easy for a liberal billionaire to support a state income tax...not so easy for most of his fans.

"Average age" means at birth. The older you get the less that number means. Most people, if reasonably healthy, live into their 80s.

Monday is a good song but there are dozens ahead of it on my list. Most of my favorites are not well known.
One particular harbor
The captain and the kid
Trying to reason with hurricane season
Floridays
Creola
Gypsies in the palace
Banana wind
Ballad of Skip Wiley
I will play for gumbo
California promises
…..
And probably another 100 of these songs are etched permanently in my mind.

I spent many decades, more than half of my life, living the “beaches, bars, boats, and ballads” lifestyle. Literally. Memories that I will never forget. :cert:

He had a few staple party songs I really liked, never bothered to buy an album. Notably, Margaritaville. Other than that, Cheeseburger in Paradise is the only other song of his I can name off the top of my head, although his distinctive sound was recognizable.

Not aware of his politics, but given his insistence on showing papers at his concerts during the Wu flu hysteria, maybe I should have guessed. I might have gone to see a show of his if it was free somehow, but wouldn't get injected with mystery juice to do so.

Guy definitely had talent both as a musician and as a businessman, making a popular brand out of his songs, no one can take that away from him. I respect that.

Of course. Pay attention, Poopstick. Trump designed the clot shots to take out liberals. He knew that liberals would inject themselves with anything in an effort to virtue signal. Because liberals love nothing better than virtue signaling. It was sheer genius. Notice that those of us who can think on our own didn't volunteer for the experiments.

His early years from the 1970’s were the best. His story is a good one. From humble beginnings on the eastern shore of the Mobile bay (yes Alabama) and his exclusion from the Nashville scene to his days in Key West.

I never used to miss the chance
To climb up on his knee
Listen to the many tales
Of life upon the sea

We'd go sailin' back on barkentines
An' talk of things he did
Tomorrow just a day away
For the captain and the kid

His world had gone from sailin' ships
To rakin' mom's backyard
He never could adjust to land
Although he tried so hard

We both were growin' older then
Wiser with our years
That's when I came to understand
The course his heart still steered

He died about a month ago
While winter filled the air
And though I cried, I was so proud
To love a man so rare

He's somewhere on the ocean now
A place he outta be
With one hand on the starboard rail
He's wavin' back at me

8:57 AM PT -- Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... Jimmy was diagnosed with skin cancer 4 years ago that turned into lymphoma, and we're told that was the cause of death. As one close friend put it, "He lived his life in the sun, literally and figuratively." Jimmy began receiving hospice care last Monday and there was an outpouring of love from friends and family. We're told a week ago Sir Paul McCartney came to Jimmy's house and sang to Jimmy's family.

Experimental Vaccine induced turbo cancer.

But it was a selfless act. He saved grandma by getting all of his shots, and sacrificed his own life to do so. Compare and contrast to others, selfish people like many here, who made the choice to kill grandma by saving their own lives and refusing the injections.

He played a small benefit concert at the Mobile, AL civic center in 1998 after Hurricane Georges came through. His home town and all.

Super small venue only a few thousand people. We had great seats, I had build a beach house for the Civic Center general manager and he knew I was a fan. Tickets were near impossible to get and he surprised me with a few.

We were hanging out in the lobby area and the Coral Reefers were there warming up the crowd.
Jimmy came in (obligatory flip flops, tee shirt, board shorts, drink in hand) and I think he shook every person's hand that was there.

Half of the show was him alone sitting on the edge of the stage with an acoustic guitar.
When he played "Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season" It was a bit emotional. We were big fans back then.

Squalls out on the gulf stream
Big storm commin' soon
Passed out in my hammock
God, I slept till way past noon
Stood up and tried to focus
I hoped I wouldn't have to move far
Sure could use a bloody mary
So I stumbled over to Loui's back yard

And now I must confess
I could use some rest
I can't run at this pace very long
Yes it's quite insane
Think I hurt my brain
But it cleans me out, then I can go on

There's somthing 'bout this Sunday
It's the most peculiar gray
Strollin' down the avenue that's known as A1A
Feelin tired, then I got inspired
I knew it wouldn't last long
So all alone I walked back home
Sat on the beach and there I made up this song

And now I must confess
I could use some rest
I can't run at this pace very long
Yes it's quite insane
Think I hurt my brain
But it cleans me out, then I can go on

Well the wind is blowin' harder now
Fifty knots or there abouts
There's white caps on the ocean
And I'm watchin' for water spouts
It's time to close the shutters
It's time to go inside
In a week I'll be in gay par-ey
Hell that's a mighty long airplane ride

And now I must confess
I could use some rest
I can't run at this pace very long
Yes it's quite insane
Think I hurt my brain
But it cleans me out, then I can go on

He just came out with a new song too. Titled "My Gummie Just Kicked In". Apparently, he was dining one night with Paul McCartney and his wife when Paul's wife started acting a little goofy. Jimmy asked her if she was alright and she replied, "I'm fine. My gummie just kicked in". Jimmy knew right then that he had another hit in the works.

And now he's trying to deny that gays belong to the leftists. I can tell you one thing - it sure as hell isn't conservatives demanding that transvestites be allowed to twerk in front of your young grandchildren in Elementary school. And it sure as hell isn't conservatives filling the school libraries with gay kiddie porn. That's all coming from the left. They own it.

He's gonna take a deep breath, pop open a Bud Light, and spend the day watching MSDNC.

In other words, do what he does every day.

Simply put, the experimental injections destroyed his immune system. He was already fighting skin cancer, the last thing he needed was something to suppress his immune system. So Bill Daniels is likely correct - turbo cancer brought about by the clot shots.

Just because Hitler was fighting Stalin during WWII, the propagandist Left tries to peg Nazism the opposite the opposite of Communism, thus "right-wing."

That's like saying the Crypts and Bloods were not both criminal gangs because they fight each other. One had to be the "good guys", right? Communists (international socialists) are little different from Nazis (national socialists). Who cares about the petty differences, they are both totalitarian governments.

But the ruse worked -- most Americans think Nazism is "far-right." And those Leftists in the know, pushing the propaganda since WWII, created a "whipping boy" to blame, which they use all the time, just like Stalin did.

"Anyone opposed to what we're doing is a right-wing extremist." Everyone knows the horrors of Nazism, but Hitler was an amateur compared to the number of citizens killed by Stalin and Mao. The Left does not like to talk about the genocides committed by Communists (100M), but they love to talk about the genocide committed by "right-wing" Nazis (12M).

I contributed tribute material. It was a fun time for us parrotheads and a great ride for him.

Well my sister called to wish me happy birthday and she’s really grieving about his passing. Not so much that she was a huge fan but she (and most of my family) see me as their Jimmy Buffett. :Jeff '79:

I said that he won’t be “heading up to San Francisco for the Labor Day weekend show…”
And she got very emotional. :(

I then said “too soon?” And she laughed and all was well.

Sometimes it’s not just the music, it’s the connection we have with others because of the music.
