Hi. I have Michelin Pilot Sports on it now, and they are great but getting worn.

Any other brands to recommend?

WTF? How dead is this place?

One more thing: They must be run-flats.

Sure is a lively forum here, can barely keep up with all the responses. WTF?

I have to get new tires (pretty sure) before the end of the month to pass inspection.

Will I have to sign on to "that other place" to get some friggin opinions? I imagine they will kick me off if I do.

Tires are important to have on cars, because tires go round and round. Tires, in fact, are round. And cars are like buses. They have tires, too, because they both have wheels. The wheels on the bus go round and round, because they have tires, which are round. So it's important for buses, AND cars, to have tires.

It won't move for a few months so no rush now. :seasix:

And to actually add something of value, what's wrong with replacing them with the same tires? I've run those on my Vettes for years, including the C6 I had and the C7 I have now.

You know the old saying about opinions, but I remember reading all different ones about tires "at that other place." Don't remember for sure, but it seems some liked other brands that were just as good but a bit cheaper.

And then there was the fake pandemic and supply shortages which was still going on last summer regarding tires at least.

I've not checked since, but maybe everything's okay now. It passed inspection last September (?) cuz I know The Guy, but it will definitely need new skins this spring.

Thanks Steve. :seasix:

I only buy black tires for my Corvettes. Does that make me racist?

I'm a HUGE fan of the new Conti Extreme Contacts. Been on my ZO6 for about 2 years now. Nice and quiet, but can hook my 575 RW in pretty much every gear. Great tire...if you can find them.

Try the ones from china, very affordable.

So I'll be getting new Michelin RFs in a few weeks. I called my buddy but he said his tire machine won't handle the sidewalls, so he recommended a place that I know of that another buddy goes to and likes. Also getting new pressure sensors.

Just curious, cuz I've heard numbers all over the place. What kind of mileage should one expect with these tires, driving like the old man that I am?

These have 30k on them and would probably still go another 2k. That's more miles than on any vehicle I've ever owned.

The new ones will outlive me. :seasix:

The Michelin all season tires on my C7 have ~30k miles on them, and have enough tread for another 20k easily.

My buddy can't get Michelin RFs. The only RFs he can get are Bridgestone Potenza S007A, a set for $1,366.

I've seen peeps at "that other place" talk about Bridgestones but I don't remember what all was said about them. I'm not racing this thing, more interested in longevity -- although no matter what I get they will likely outlast me.

Any thoughts on them?

Haven't found any negatives about the Bridgestones. Saw these on Tirerack the other day:

These are about $1,524 per set:

Just saw these, they are about $1,266 per set. Why so much cheaper than the SS above? SS more for racing?

Curiius why would you run rf's? Mobile phone/AAA for the win!

Bruze

Never been a member of AAA. And if there was a problem with a tire, I just want to be able to drive it home or to a garage instead of dicking around and waiting for somebody.

Great inventions: Sliced bread, caller ID, intermittent wipers, climate control in cars, online banking, and RF tires! :yesnod:

Got a set of tire sensors coming from eBay: New OEM, $54 for four.

Imma having Van Bortel Corvette (https://www.vanbortelcorvettes.net/) do the tires, sensors, and alignment on June 14. They will have the Michelin A/S there for close to Tirerack's price.

DON’T get run flats. Don’t.

I agonized over this decision. I got non run flats for my 05.

I NEVER looked back. The comfort, quiet and everything else was, as I suspected, worth the idea of having to deal with a flat tire out in the middle of nowhere.

And I never got a flat. Just like everyone else that made the same decision. Trust me.

Get a portable compressor (the knocker kind that plugs into your lighter) and a plug kit. And forget about it and enjoy your new ride.

I been riding with RFs for ten years now. I don't see any negatives.

Nothing wrong with RF's. Best choice Mich although they are not cheap.
Enjoy

I just went back to run flats and replaced my General G-Max RS Extreme Performance Summer tires with new Bridgestone Potenza SOO7 RFT tires. I like them so far. Had Michelin Pilot Sport ZP tires before the Generals.

For just normal "old-man" street driving, I see no negatives with RFs and of course there's the one big positive.

Got the new tires on yesterday. My car buddy suggested getting the TPS off of eBay as they're much cheaper and he, nor his son, have never had any problem doing that. So I did, they were advertised as OEMs, four for $54.

I looked all over the tiny engraving on them, didn't see "GM" or "Delco" or anything so not sure what I got.

The dealer said they had a little trouble getting them programmed, but they got them set okay. About 10 miles from the dealer the icon came on, said to check the system. Checking each tire I get an "XX".

I will have my buddy try to program them, will that possibly fix them, or will I end up having to buy new GM ones? Or just put a piece of electrical tape over the icon and ignore it? I didn't have any TPM system the first 47 years of my driving life and seemed to manage okay.

I guess I should update this thread, not that there's a lot of traffic here.

I got an $80 rebate getting the tires from the dealer, which brought them to $20 over Tirerack's price. I said ok, for $20 I got less screwing around. What a freaking mistake that was.

I got a "Rewards" Visa card. Actuating it was a PITA, website didn't work right. I bought a few lunches with it, but today the diner told me it didn't work, but there should be $20-30 left on it. What a pain in the ass. Shoulda went with Tirerack, I'd have an extra $20 in my pocket and no bullshit.

FWIW the TPS monitors: Check my previous post. The ****ing Chevy dealer was probably pissed because I supplied my own and didn't buy their overpriced ones. I called the guy the next day and he said bring it back. I bet they would have told me that they can't program them and they'll have to put GM OEMs in.

After a couple of days I had a local tire shop program the TPS. They said it was no problem and they've been fine since, two months later.

I hate car dealers. Having worked at one in the '60s, I know how they operate and they're probably ten times worse now.

The rush for tires was because I was going to take this 46 year-old babe on a trip (her idea) to southern PA to a horse stable she wanted to visit. That idea fell through but I had to get tires by September anyway to pass inspection.
