Here’s why the best IMAX movies still need a Palm Pilot to work

Probably 5 hrs with commercials then.
I'll wait until it hits TV, no way I'm paying to watch
something that long, especially since I know the outcome.

Yeah - my attention span is about 10 minutes anymore; interesting though, as a boomer. I remember drills in elementary school that involved ducking down in the hallway under a sheet in case Russia dropped "the big one" - as if that would do a damned thing.

Me too ... I recall in 5th grade we'd go to the daylight basement of the school and "duck and cover" ... and I was asking the Teachers ... "why?" - this makes no sense - if it were a nuke we'd be toast and if it were radiation ducking and covering would do nothing ... so ... they gave me detention ...
Idiots ...

Born mid 40s,had to go through all that feelgood bullshit. About all it did was get your clothes dirty crawling around on the floor! At the one school I went to we had to go out in the hall and cuddle up to the massive terracotta wall. The teachers all got together in a group and bullshited away, occasionally admonishing some student about staying as low as you can and don't move and shut up!
That whole thing was nothing more than phucking bullshit it would do nothing!
Early indocernation from the government schools.

I am going to see the movie this week. From what I understand it is an incredible movie, and its directed in a way where it keeps your attention.. If that makes sense. You al know the outcome, but it is all about Oppenheimer and his development as a character in the movie. Reviews are really great.
It's incredible all the money, construction, employment, real estate, and logistics used to create uranium. The first bomb cost 21 billion in today's money, but I think it was higher than that.

Nowadays if they were to start from scratch it would be far higher. OSHA alone would make it cost more, government cuts ( 10 for this agency, 10 for this agency etc)..
The incredible thing back then was how the Uranium ended up in our hands. We are very fortunate, to say the least, to have been the one country to get Uranium from Africa, and have the scientists to produce this before Hitler was able to.
