I want a cheap camera that I can connect to my wifi and view through my desktop computer not my phone.
I don't know much about these things so I've just started searching.
I don't need motion detection, sound or anything fancy.
Basically I would like to be able to turn it on from my desktop when I need to and for the rest of the time it will be off.
I found this one but not sure if I can use it through my desktop.

Thanks I'll check them out. I think I need a camera with POE but not sure.
Wyze
From what I've read wyze needs android or Apple.

Get a large dog. Not only will your home be more secure, you will also likely improve your health because they are at least as much work as children.

I have this one and am very pleased:
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Security-Zoom-Recording-E1/dp/B07Z841XYD/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1VTVHZGLOCTC5&keywords=reolink%2B5mp&qid=1686795521&sprefix=reolink%2B5mp%2Caps%2C127&sr=8-5&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18ed3cb5-28d5-4975-8bc7-93deae8f9840&th=1
This is a PTZ camera that uses internal memory for recording and can viewed from a browser. Does not need connected to a computer to run.
but is not a part of my overall video security system. I use the Reolink for unique ... short timed...situations, as a standalone recorder.

I think the E1 suits what i need.
I can monitor live view on my desktop without a program just by logging in to the IP address. I don't need to record or anything.
I have a drain I am worried about in the floor in the basement. I want to keep an eye on it.

:iagree:
Get a boxer
Wyze - I have 12 cameras and all are fantastic

You may want to add a water detector alarm too. Maybe something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Glentronics-Inc-BWD-HWA-00895001498-Basement/dp/B000JOK11K

Get a "smart" water sensor and don't count on catching a leak/stoppage randomly by turning on a cameras; these will alert, ping you on email, text via app, etc:
https://www.amazon.com/Detector-Wireless-Notification-Security-Basement/dp/B07J9HZ5VN/ref=sr_1_4?crid=12CC6QGP37OT5&keywords=water+sensors+for+leaks+wifi&qid=1686848502&s=hi&sprefix=water+senso%2Ctools%2C117&sr=1-4
They saved me from a flooded bedroom from a stopped up garage A/C drain twice.

I have Zigbee sensors from Linkind that integrate with a standard Smart Home hub. I wouldn't want something that needs a special hub or a special app in order to function.

I don't want to get into a device-war, the link I showed has about 4,200 reviews and very positive ratings, the point is that a leak detector will be better than a camera if there is WiFi reachable near the problem area.
