The latest one-off custom Ferrari has been released, built by Pinninfarina on the chassis of a Ferrari 599GTB for Edward Walson. The car is officially named the P540 Superfast Aperta, but it has already been given a nickname, The Golden Ferrari...

Guess they're even. Corvettes have been swiping Ferrari styling cues since the get go.

Indeed, and I've been a little unfair. Pininfarina were actually modernizing a particular Ferrari, a 330LMB bodied by Fantuzzi.

You can see where GM Styling borrowed many of the '68 Vette's details, if not the overall shape.

I'm sure Walson will explain that to the huge numbers of people that will see the car and say words like "Corvette" and "Stingray"...

Wonder how close that will be to the C7? Interesting.

Do you know offhand what year that Ferrari is Apex? I'm just curious about the timeframe between that and the 68 Corvette.

I've found this program fascinating since they cranked out the first car. :waiting:

I quoted you over on CF where they are talking about the Superfast. I'll probably get banned for mentioning your name!

The Chassis was built as a 330LMB in 1963. Below is another 330LMB, showing how this car would have appeared in '63...

The Fantuzzi rebody was done in either late 1963 or very early 1964. Of course, some of the styling details of this car that later appeared on the production '68 Corvette, like the Kamm tail and the flying buttress rear window had already appeared on European sports racing cars like Ferrari's 250 P and 250 GTO.

Yeah, I was reading that earlier.

I don't get over there too often, but once in a while I poke my head in...
