Not really "speed holes"...but still fun to drill holes in perfectly good fiberglass...:seasix: Since my gasser will be seeing mostly street use, I need a way to get cool air to the radiator. Ive seen quite a few Gassers with glass front caps doing this. I have a stock grill, but dont feel like doing all that fab work to make it fit just now. :seasix: I still have to dress out the holes and paint them. :yesnod:

I may have a claim with one of those mesothelioma lawyers now after all that fiberglass dust in my lungs....:D

Gassers arnt for everyone....but Ive wanted one since a kid when they were actually racing....:yesnod: :seasix: Ive taken a few liberties with mine, so its not a "pure" gasser but captures the feel of one....:seasix:

It was a link to the Mad Max car that most resembles Zeeks project. I don't know why it didn't show up. I think I have recently been cursed. First Youtube, then Twitter, now hotlinking random pictures. What will I fail at next?

Which one looks like mine? I dont see any similarities of a Gasser to any mad max cars....:confused5:

Gassers are cool.

That grill sucks balls.

I'm sorry but that looks terrible. A simple full cutout would be preferable if there is no time or budget for a proper grille at this time.

The one on the right. I have to concur with others, the original grill would make that car pop, but your custom work, IMHO, gives it a Mad Max kinda feel.

You obviously have no idea how that would destroy the integrity of the one piece glass front cap....:slap:

I agree that it is not the best choice. But I have a deadline to meet and I want the car drivable on the street first so this was the simplest choice. I do have a nice stock 37 grill that I plan on installing, but will require a lot of fabrication to keep the integrity of the one piece glass front end. I got the idea for the holes from some other gassers. I needed more holes though to get good air flow to the radiator.

As far as the mad max comparison....I dont see it at all. So unless you think all Gassers look like mad max cartoons....well...we all have opinions...:yesnod:

Those look better. I think you may have drilled too many holes. And all those holes probably effects the integrity of the fiberglass front? :island14:

We're gonna need a well placed traffic enforcement rock to keep you from taking that out of the garage. Not your best work. Two rows of speed holes along the cneter line would have looked better.

Meh....it's only temporary....just long enough to work out all the bugs of a "new" build. Then I'll go back and fabricate the necessary brackets and glass in some structured support for the original grill that I already have. (very hard to find a nice one so I got lucky there..:yesnod: )

CTC first week in October. Of course, if I have all the bugs worked out and still have time, I will then install the factory style front grill.:yesnod:

I got my ‘79 F250 running smooth as silk and drove it last week! First time it’s moved on its own power, since 1996!

Brakes aren’t completely gone thru but I beat you!:D

Factory style grille or even that patterned grille stuff they sell at Home Depot that you can cut with tin snips and install. Looks period correct, light, and takes no time. 79036

Different versions of the gasser look. While I would prefer the grill over the holes, both are correct.
