Any input on the Harbor Freight "Zurich" brand scan tools? I am thinking about buying the ZR13s model and was wondering if I should buy something else. I have read they are made for Harbor Freight by Innova, but not sure. Thanks in advance.
HF is good for not normally used tools.
Ask yourself this. How many times in a year will I use it?
If it's more than twice, don't buy if from HF.

Autel makes great scanners and are able to be updated. All depends what you want from a scan tool nowadays.
We bought a hammer drill to test out at work from HF, Bauer. It was still working three years later. The Hilti died twice. Mechanics and Electricians preferred the HF drill over the Hilti.
There are some good tools at HF.

Blue Driver off Amazon, the app pings the massive database and gives fixes for any codes for your SPECIFIC car.

Depending on what you want to do with th e scanner. Read a few codes, maybe view real time or...
Bleed abs systems, turn stuff on/off, program a module and what's your budget. Also what vehicles are you planning on using it on.
I have everything from el cheapo Bluetooth using torque lite to a tech2win using an old laptop and a few in between. Depending on what/where I need to do and use them.

I just bought one, it was cheaper than updating my Solus. I needed it to retract the EPB on a VW, worked fine. I also have an older HF scanner (CennTech ?) that has worked fine for years.

I get a surprise every once in a while though...I bought a $15 angle grinder from HF to do a job that I figured would trash it. That was over 5 years ago and the fuggin thing is still going strong.:island14:

I bought a come-along hand winch from HF that broke the first time I used it. The locking pawl was made of spelter and just shattered. Into the trash it went.
The used HF air pancake air compressor I have is over 15 years old and still works fine, and the S wrenches I bought to R&R door hinges on GM cars without fender removal are over ten years old and work great.
So it's a mixed bag.
Do all HF stores smell like that cheap packing oil/grease?? The ones out here all do.

The Daytona Floor Jacks are GREAT. I want to buy another one. I, too, have a Harbor Freight Angle Grinder that won't die. I also have a cheapo Hammer Drill that got me through a few jobs, still works great.
The Benchtop Drill Press I have sucks pretty bad, but it has got me through a few jobs, so no complaints. It's not a tool I use very often anyway.
Offset Box wrenches I bought years ago suck pretty bad, I need to upgrade those eventually, but it's not a priority. Most of my hand tools are a mix of Truck Brands, SK and Craftsman. I have a few cheap HF air tools that are ok.
