Barbie Bassett no longer at WLBT, sources confirm

Barbie Bassett, news anchor for WLBT has been absent from the public eye lately, causing speculation about her current status in the news industry. Vicksburg Daily News reached out to a source at WLBT who confirmed Bassett is no longer with the station.

In October 2022, Bassett made a comment on the air that viewers took offense to, citing its racial overtones.
She apologized the following day in response to the backlash.
Recently, social media called attention to Bassett for using a comment while reporting on a story that referenced Snoop Dogg.
Since Mar. 8, Bassett has been silent on social media. A highly placed source at WLBT has confirmed that Bassett is no longer employed at the station. An official statement regarding Bassett’s departure has not been issued by either Bassett or WLBT.
Her comment? While doing a story about "Snoop Dog's" wine company, she said, "fo shizzle my nizzle," which seems to be "Snoop's" catch phrase, if I undestand correctly.
