It's that time of year again... finally!
I'm going to take this opportunuty to simultaneously brag about my kid and shamelessly ask for money. :kimblair:
I mentioned it briefly when I stopped in for a drive-by post a few weeks ago.
My son is an up and coming young kart racer, and we're looking for sponsors to help keep us on the track.
He is an incredibly smart, dedicated, talented young man who just turned 7 years old. His school work comes first... but when the studying is done, the helmet goes on.
This will be his first full season moving up to the "cadet" level (8-12 years old). Last season he had a great year, winning the season championship in the MCC ProAm Karting series, as well as finishing 2nd in points at the national level in the World Karting Association kid kart series and OVKA kid karts.
This season promises to be a new adventure in the larger, faster karts and we can't wait to get rolling. Whether it's as a sponsor getting your company name/logo on the kart or just helping to support this young man as he follows his racing dreams, your support is greatly appreciated!

I’ll donate this evening. Do we have details on sponsorship levels required to get the vette barn logo on the kart?

I guess Im the only dick here to say Bah-humbug! It's one thing to go to auto parts stores, or dealerships and the like asking for donations of parts or cash, but, if my kid had a hobby that I had to go online and beg for donations, I think my kid would find another hobby...:yesnod:
Flame suit on.....:pissed: :ack:

So, your kind of begging is superior and therefore the only kind allowed?

I don't consider what he has done as begging, but that's my opinion ....if I could have given more to his kid I would have.

You're welcome to whatever opinion you want to have.
In case you may have missed it, a lot of people in here own businesses. You may also be very unaware of the amount of exposure that is generated by kart racing. Based on the comment that I should go ask for parts at auto parts stores and dealerships, I'd say it's a safe bet that you are pretty unfamiliar with the sport.
If someone wants to be a sponsor, great. If not, that's your choice. Feel free to move along.
I'm not begging for anything.

I fully support Drew, but the bigger issue here is we are FAMILY. This forum supported my daughter way back in high school in the solar gokart days, and into college during her Formula SAE days. I've given back to many many others along the way as well, and based on Zeek's comments, I just chipped in some more tire money. :cert: There are a lot of initiatives on this forum that many of us wish to support, so don't stop asking for legitimate reasons. Hell, GentleBen was so smitten with GWiz, that not only did he fund her racing adventures, he gave her $1 for every 1/100th GPA point that she had achieved in her 4.5 years there, along with a really nice card. That was nearly $500.
Keep the racing dream alive for the next generation. :drivingskid:

I can't think of a better place for my kid to be on these summer weekends. The sportsmanship, the atmosphere of racing, the responsibility and learning that comes along with it. As I'm sure you can relate to the gazillion late night hours, bloody knuckles, tears, and smiles along the way... it's so much more than a "hobby". I really don't think it's something that can really even be explained. No other sport compares in my mind. :cert:

GWiz's growth has a lot to do with her passion for cars and racing for sure. A couple other areas that contributed to her overall package was 12 years in Tae Kwon Do (3rd degree black belt) and 4-year letter winner in Cross Country. Both martial arts, and long distance running require an immense amount of discipline and translate into life-winning attitudes.
You're doing the right thing. Your kid will be a winner when he's ready to contribute to society. :yesnod:
Considering my Hoosiers cost $2,500/set and give me a total of 36 runs (36 miles), sending you roughly the sales tax on my tires for your kid's kart is an easy decision. Shit...maybe I need to get a kart. (thinking...I'm 6'5", 300 lbs...OK, kart is out. Keep running expensive cars and tires) :datawiz:

The boy isn't much of a runner (yet), but martial arts of some kind is on the radar for sure. Give them the foundation... let them build upon it.
