Article said another vehicle may be involved. Makes you wonder if the driver that hit the workers was forced into that lane?

Acura driver ends up BETWEEN 2 temporary Jersey barriers and crowd plows the work site. My theory: Dumbass was either so old, or so high, they thought they were taking an HOV lane or offramp. Even though I don't think 695 has HOV in Woodlawn.

Six construction workers killed when car crashed into work zone on I-695
baltimore
BY CBS BALTIMORE STAFF
UPDATED ON: MARCH 23, 2023 / 5:04 AM / CBS BALTIMORE
BALTIMORE -- Six people died when a car crashed into a work zone Wednesday afternoon on the inner loop of I-695 in Baltimore County.
According to Maryland State Police, around 12:40 p.m., a car drove in between temporary placed jersey walls and struck multiple construction workers before overturning.
Troopers initially speculated that two vehicles were involved in the crash. On Wednesday night, they named those drivers.
Maryland State Police said that the driver of the Acura passenger vehicle involved in the crash has been identified as 54-year-old Lisa Adrienna Lea of Randallstown.
The second driver was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen and identified as 20-year-old Melachi Brown of Windsor Mill, Maryland State Police said.
Brown had stopped his disabled vehicle north of the crash site, according to authorities.
He did not report any injuries, Maryland State Police said.
The crash on I-695 at Security Boulevard shut down lanes in both directions for hours.
Lea was taken to Shock Trauma. Maryland State Police said that she had attempted to change from one lane to another when her vehicle struck the front corner panel on the passenger side of Brown's Volkswagen.
Crash Team investigators believe this caused Lea to lose control and veer into the work zone.
"I am praying for the family," said Bridget Brown, whose son was on the highway during the wreck. "My son was only a few cars back. It could have been my son. I just thank God it is not him."
Troopers said they are investigating the cause of the crash.
Brown told WJZ she was coming to meet her son, who told her not to take 695. She took a back road and saw the commotion.
"When I came, I saw people running, all of the ambulances coming. It was a lot," Brown said. "We have a casualty and I am praying for the family. I didn't see the crash, just the commotion."
Baltimore County Public Schools said it is preparing for significant traffic delays because of the wreck.
"Please avoid the area," the district said. "We will work as quickly as possible to transport students safely this afternoon."
Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski issued his condolences to those involved in the crash.
"On behalf of all the residents of Baltimore County, we offer our sincere condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of those who have lost their lives in today's tragic crash and my prayers remain with those injured in this horrific incident," Olszewski said.
"My heart goes out to the victims and the families affected by the tragic crash on the 695 beltway this afternoon," Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack at 410-780-2700.

Traffic camera video shows a car clipping another car moments before it crashed into the Baltimore Beltway median, killing six construction workers in Maryland on Wednesday afternoon.
The video, obtained Thursday by sister station WBAL from SafetyVid.com, provides a look from a Maryland Department of Transportation traffic camera that shows the point of contact between a Volkswagen and an Acura before the Acura went onto the concrete barrier and overturned.

Also Thursday, Maryland State Police identified the six construction workers who were killed in the crash.
Rolando Ruiz, 46, of Laurel, Maryland
Carlos Orlando Villatoro Escobar, 43, of Frederick, Maryland
Jose Armando Escobar, 52, of Frederick, Maryland
Mahlon Simmons III, 31, of Union Bridge, Maryland

Sybil Lee Dimaggio, 46, of Glen Burnie, Maryland
Several family members of the victims declined to comment.
Hours after the crash on Wednesday, Maryland State Police said the driver of the Acura, Lisa Adrienna Lea, 54, of Randallstown, Maryland, was taken to a trauma center at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Police identified the driver of the Volkswagen as Melachi Brown, 20, of Windsor Mill, Maryland. His car broke down north of the scene on the Beltway. He was not injured, according to police.
Police said troopers were called around 12:40 p.m. for reports of a pedestrian struck at a work zone.
A preliminary investigation indicates Lea tried to change lanes. As she tried to move into the left lane, police said they believe her vehicle struck the front corner panel on the passenger side of the Volkswagen. Crash investigators believe this caused the Acura to lose control and go into the work zone, where the crash occurred.
