I was 12 and paid $150 cash. I began working at 8. It took me 4 years to save the cash for the mini bike.

I have lots of mine, but all are packed up from moving. Got pics of a few. A total of maybe fifty h/o scale slot cars and several tracks. The first track is a 1970 Aurora four lone. The Darlington 500 I bought in 1975. Riverside I picked up at a yard sale. I also have a Hot Wheels Sizzlers (around 2000), a Hot Wheels AI and a Carrerra Go! but they aren't that old.
The Tyco train set is from Christmas 1975.

My little pistols. The white handled recolver was my Dad's. The silver one in the holster my Mom got me when I started first grade (1967). It fit onto a belt, and the loop would hold a pencil. I got stabbed a few times in the leg, so quit the pencil carry.

Sounds about right.

Once my brother and I hit 5-6 years old we graduated to sliding down the stairs in refrigerator boxes.

My sister was queen of falling down stairs so i had crash dummy to watch regularly. She ruined the louvered doors bottom of the stairs on a regular basis. Somehow I'd get in trouble for it alot. :slap:

I'm 99% done restoring mine from childhood. Need to powder coat some brackets is all.
Still has the porch deck boards put on when I destroyed the floor all those years ago and until recently the same greenish paint. It'll be on a shelf in garage soon maybe with a stuffed Snoopy aka red baron style driving it.
Wish i could find pics of the Peanuts gang my Uncle paintsd in my room as a kid. He was talented. Nothing like Snoopy Flying on his dog house to entertain you at night.

No pics as it's all packed away in the attic. Favorites were a nice Strombecker slot car track and Mattel Shoot'n Shell revolver. I never outgrew the slot cars.

I had to slide down on my stomach with my older brother standing on my back. He called it "surfing". I also had to go down face first, so I didn't have any trouble with those pesky "baby teeth". :yesnod:

If it can me boxed and mailed: Ebay. If not, Craigslist.

Hood hinges, door hinges, probably worth $100 each. Badges and emblems go for $20 and up when in good shape.

Chromed pot metal in good shape brings large doll hairs. The chrome plenum under the rear window could bring in over $400 if in #1 shape.

Sand blast then Parkerize the bolts, sell in sets.

I sold my old MX transmission through Craigs. Guy drove fur hours and paid $350 cash.

The Olds Gas Engine Works video I posted is extremely close to the engine my Grandfather had in the barn for powering equipment.

His engine was "lost" in a barn fire in 1957 ( which was also the last time my Dad burnt trash.) It's now in the well and probably still there.

The engine I own was purchased from my neighbor Sam who lived across from our farm. He purchased it from the original owner who lived about 2 miles away. So it's still a "local" engine.

My old toy was a home made one that my father showed me how to make. He used to make them in the dirty ‘30’s when he was a kid. It was a “shooter” made from two clothespins. The spring one was taken apart and reassembled into the clamp one. The extra wood part was the “cocking device” to push the metal spring back to the “cocked” position. The kernel of corn was wedged in and the spring was pulled like a trigger. Many hours of fun.
