I've been rear-ended twice. The 2nd time was the worst. I wasn't injured but it caused $23k in damage to my Focus RS and the dude didn't have insurance. He just got out of prison and was turning his life around...I miss that car. They didn't total it but there was a lot of structural damage and I didn't really trust the cutting and welding they had to do.

Totalled my first car, a '60 vette, into a tree about 1am......
and since then, I been hit about 1/2 dzn times.....last time was some nitwit backing up in the bank parking lot, over the nose on my '72 and so I fixed it with their insurance money, and decided to repaint it GREEN.....this all about six years ago...

I made it until 2018 without an accident until I was rear ended while driving a Caddy borrowed off my Uncle's car lot in Indianapolis. :willy: I was just sick about the whole deal, but he was very cool about it. Evidently it already had a dirty Carfax, and his guys repaired it on the policy holder's dime, so he didn't lose anything because of it. (That's what he told me anyway)

A few, thankfully none my fault.....and nothing horrible :seasix:

Thank you, Dodge RAM. Literally.
$5K damage, he paid.
Yes. First time I was shitfaced as was my GF and a couple in back seat. This was over 50 years ago, had a new '68 Camaro. Another car pulled into intersection facing me and stopped, I had the right-of-way.
They were charged I was not, despite all of us being drunk, and beer cans rolling around and a cooler full of beer. Front end of both cars were wiped out.
Hit a deer in April 2018 in a year-old truck, $11,400 damage, I was sober.

Yep. I've been in one accident which was completely my fault and, luckily, only resulted in a DUI.
when I was in the Army, I had just bought a new Crowd Plow GT and was stopped in the grocery store parking lot maybe three spots from the front row. Car moves out of the way, I check mirrors and wot not....it's safe to go... so I start inching forward and hear a loud thump. Stopped the car to see a dude running with a small child to his mother at the entrance to the store. The kid got away from mom, ran across the street in front of the store, zig zagged through cars in the lot, then ran into my right rear quarter panel. So, no, I did not hit or run over the kid. Lady found an ambulance chaser and tried to sue me an the insurance for $50K to cover medical. Bullshit. She was a military wife and everything for her kid was covered free. That's when my ex-wife (Korean) told me that it's well known that Korean women will pull shit like that to get a big payout. Insurance to her and the lawyer to eat a BoD. If they paid anything, I think it was no more than $2K, but I made sure nothing went on my record and there was never to be an admission of wrong doing on my part. Thank God for witnesses who wrote in their statements that the kid "... ran into the car after it had started moving." :willy:

Last one was in 2004.
I was the first car, #1, in a five-car pile-up.
I stopped for congested traffic, #2 hit me, the other three piled it up.
I had to go to court, as #2 alleged I stopped for nothing, and wanted to sue her.
She was the biggest ahole I ever met, one day removed from plastic surgery with bandages on both eyes, her right foot was in a cast, so she was only driving with left foot useable.
My attorney for State Farm sucked, he wanted a payday so made me go to court.
#2 got jackshit in the first trial, jury wrongly assigned 100# of blame to her, which is not correct if you were rear-ended, but she was such a POS the jury wanted to hang her.
There was a second trial due to the first being a mistrial, I was the first one on the stand for a reason, the new judge asked me to explain what happened, he then looked at all six lawyers and asked which one thought I had any liablility, all six shut their pieholes, I was on the stand for under three minutes, the judge apologized to me, and told me to have a good day.
In FL, accidents suck, as too many lawyers without a docket of cases, besides, we have really nice and beautiful courthouses that need case traffic.

You got lucky. I was driving a company PU truck and dead stopped at a major intersection in Albany NY in the mid 1970s. Light turned green and this kid about 6-7 ran in front of the truck and fell into the bumper. Again the truck was stopped dead! Mom, about a 350# welfare sucking POS comes waddling up screaming her head off about her crotch spawn. He had ran at least a 100' from her to crash into the truck. Just got a little gash on his forehead! The good part there was a city cop right there and saw the whole thing.
Guess who got charged for the accident? The trucks insurance did not even make a attempt to fight it, even with the cop as a witness!

The wifey use to work at the county hospital in downtown Fort Lauderdale, big commute of about 25 miles.
Leaving downtown at rush hour is not easy, always hectic, bumper-to-bumper, you sit through three light changes.
She is stopped at a light, homeless loser on a bike runs into her front quarter and dents it, does the hood slide gimmick, ends up on the pavement, had a cell phone to call police.
Police and paramedic bus show up, cite him with a ticket, he goes into frenzy as he forgot about his injuries, he ends up cuffed in the back seat, and paramedics determined he did not have to go to ER.
Two months later our auto ins policy goes up, the paid out the maximum allowable $10K for doctor and lawyer fees, I called the idiots to advised my wife was not at fault, FL Law does not matter, he gets $10K as she has coverage.
Six months later the wife gets a subpeona, loser dood is suing the county, the city, the police department, the paramedics, the adjacents business owners on the corner, and my wife.
She was removed from the suit, not sure how much the loser got,,,

Nothing serious except when I wasn't behind to wheel.
Have avoided many accidents. The more power you have the more useful the gas peddle. Brakes can work but if you can't stop in time to begin with the best outcome is going to be a reduced impact force. Worst case scenario I lock up the wheels to more quickly point the vehicle where I want to aim it then get back to the go peddle. Done lots of that :yesnod:

I was on a Police chase because i borrowed someone's car. They put a spike strip down and blew out all four of my tires. Made me mad so i kept going. Then they did that stupid pit maneuver and hit the car three times. Spun me around and gave me a headache. Finally after the flames coming off the rims caught the car on fire i stopped. They had as many as ten police officers help me out of the car. I didn't mind because it wasn't my car but they were a little rough with me. :confused5:

I've lost count how many wrecks I've been in. Most have left me injured and out of all of them only one minor one was ever my fault. I swear to god the next time some idiot runs into me I'm going to lose my shit on them. I'm tired of everybody else's mistakes.

yes i have
very true, indeed
Many. Several with my parents----1968, 1970, 1975 (passenger)....and then me on motorcycles, 1976 (passenger), 1977 (3 times....one a rear-end at a red light) 1980 (car, me driving),1981, me in car as passenger, 1998--car, 2000--me on motorcycle, rear ended by truck at stop, 2016, me in car, rear-ended at stop light.
These were all major hits resulting in injury and damaged/totaled vehicles. Have been in countless fender benders over the years getting hit in parking lots, rear-ended on the street, etc. that resulted in little or no damage or injury. My motorcycles have been on non=op for the past 3-4 years due to cell phones. I have been hit hard twice at stop lights on them and it's no fun.

I put a car in the ditch to avoid an accident once. Unfortunately the other driver also decided the ditch was a safe place to be. Rolled my moms Caprice over onto the roof. Felt no impact, only damage was a bent pillar. Insurance company totaled the car... And I got the ticket.

Is this the ghost of Rodney King speaking?
Let's see...
95mph into a tire wall. We bent the frame back straight using 2 F-350's:rofl:
Launched all four wheels off the ground on a side swipe (got video somewhere)
T-boned at about 70mph.
Many little ones.
The only one off the track was some stupid biatch that didn't maintain lane on dual lane right hand turn and bumpered my passenger rear door.

Channel 7 was the best coverage. I was in a group that would get a text every time a chase would come on TV. Most times, a number of us would be able to watch and give commentary via a chat. LA was typically having a real good one about once a week until the pandemic knocked it down some. Pretty sure they're back to their old antics by now.

Is this even a real question ?
Second picture is $65,500 and 18 months later.
One serious wreck in al the years. A Toyota Camry made an illegal left turn in front of me. I hit the right rear quarter at about 40 MPH in the Jeep Trackhawk. Caught the Hawk on the front right corner. The intersection was on the curve of the road I was on so caught the car at an angle. Twisted the front of the Hawk 3 inches. Insurance was up to $50K in repairs when they finally were convinced to total it. Every air bag but one went off in the Hawk. It was sickening to see the vehicle mangled, probably the best built and running vehicle I've had.
Their insurance tried to put the blame to me, until they saw the dash cam video. Funny how the story changes so quickly.
