So, the Samsung Z Flip finally died and the foldable screen gave out.

I went and upgraded to the Z Fold, but can live with the screen since it's supposedly been upgraded and it does come with a lifetime warranty. So far I like it better. It's ether the size of a regular cell phone and operates without having to open it, or I open it and it's a small tablet. Pretty nice, but it is kind of heavy. Think of it like the weight of two samsung galaxy phones in your pocket.

No, I did not pay full price, but had I paid cash with no trade in or wot not, it would have been $1800 plus tax :willy: That's more than this MS Surface Book laptop that I use here at the house.

First mod: an otterbox case. 2nd mod: nothing. I don't want to write %450 articles about how to **** it up.

When the next model comes out, you can drill some strategically placed holes in your phone to mimic the performance of the new model.

Seriously, though, how long did that foldable screen last? Doesn't seem like a design destined for longevity.

Had a iPhone 7 …and in January it lost the ability to make calls….my replacement was the iPhone 14 pro max…like it so far.

I replaced my iPhone 6S last May with the latest equivalent, the SE.

Does everything I expect a phone to do, plus it fits right in my t-shirt pocket which is why I like the small ones. Was about $400.

I've been thinking of getting a Moto Razr but just can't pull the trigger for a $1400 phone. I can't even pull the trigger when they go on sale every other week for $500 off. I'm still using my Moto Z2 Force from 2017 that I bought in 2019. It still does everything I ask of it which is phone calls, texting and watching a few shows at lunch break at work. The best thing about it is my Moto Mods. I can project my screen up to 80 inches with my projection mod and it wow people even today.

It lasted 18 months daily use. I will not drill holes or wear loafers. Can't put up with, deal with, or condone faggotry.

I'm done with the bs "trade in" with verizon.
I didn't read the fine print, so it's my fault too.

Traded in my last phone and got something like $350 off the new phone.
They prorated the $350 over 30 (36?) Months

It credits my bill like $9 a month, so there is technically a balance owed.
If I wanted to leave Verizon any time in the next 3 years, I'd be on the hook for the balance.

I guess that's how they keep people from leaving.
Lesson learned, won't do that again.

I've been without a phone since the first week of December. I had an I-phone 5 and Verizon kept sending me warnings that it would work come December. Well, I ignored them and, the first week of December, the SOBs turned it off.

Now I'm just not sure what I am going to do. I refuse to pay a grand for a phone that they can turn off because I've owned it too long. I don't really know much about the other brands. Here we are going into March and I really don't miss not having a phone, but golf season is upon us and I need one so my friends can text me tee times.

Your old phone no longer worked because they shut down 3G service.
My step-dad dealt with the same thing last month.
Still worked for him back home, but we took them to Scottsdale and it was a brick out there.
They got him a new iphone 13 Mini for something like $500 and he now has 5G and should be good for a long time.

Last month I replaced my iPhone 6 with the SE. The music I downloaded from iTunes transferred, but the music from CDs I ripped did not. My wife and I have not yet figured out how to get that music onto the new phone. Does anyone know how to do that?

I know. Just not sure which direction to go now. Might leave I-phones and might leave Verizon. Just don't know much about cell phones. Not really a "cell phone" guy.

If my parents weren't on my account, I'd leave verizon and switch to Xfinity who I have my interwebs and cable service, through.

How long have you been with Verizon? I ask because if you've been with them for 10 plus years, you're most likely not going to leave in the next 3. The credit thing is annoying but it's not a deal-breaker IMO.

iPhone FTW and I like Verizon as I get free Apple Music.

We've been with them for 20+ years, minus a short period where we were "divested" to another carrier and had to change numbers to get back with VZW.

The only time we've really considered changing anything was recently when a buddy asked about putting our lines on their plan to save us both.
Two phones, you get hosed, seems like the sweet spot is 4 lines.
So if I moved ours to their plan, I would have had to pay off the rest of that "credit"

Ended up putting my parents on our plan a couple weeks ago.
Saves them about $60/mo and saves us around $40/mo.

We were paying $131/mo for two.
Now paying $144/mo for four.

Isn't it possible to buy an unlocked phone off of ebay and get it programmed to your old number? How would I do that? Walk into a Verizon store with it?

pretty much, yes.
Woot usually has some solid deals on phones.

Step-dad actually upgraded his phone with their old carrier, days before switching to be on our VZW plan.
They had service with a small local cell company, and they had cheaper phones.
So they paid cash for the phone.
I added it to our plan online, went to a store to get the sim card.
Inserted the sim in his new phone, and it was done.

In store would be easier, they can transfer your stuff from the old phone to the new one, for a small fee.

Remove SIM from your old phone and insert it into replacement phone. However, the iPhone 14 sold in the US no longer have physical SIMs. And all new phones are smart, including flip phones.
