does anyone have a subscription to ancestry.com or similar site? i need to find some information on previous marriages of Linda. no, she did not tell me all the relevant details that SSA is asking for (names, places, dates, ages), and i have not found a folder with such info anywhere around the house.

looks like some of these sites might have the desired info, but for $25 for uncertain results, i'll pass for now.

thank you.

It seems like the SS Admin should have all the relevant data for SS. Has she drawn a benefit previously for her earnings, or partner disability? What's her earning history?

They have a better hook into the IRS than any genealogy site, which is really what SS cares about.

I filled out reams of security paperwork over my career, and when I didn't know an answer, I put that on the form. There was almost always some jackass investigator that told me that I needed to research it, but in the end, I just said "I don't know".

Bottom line, it's their job to either validate, or invalidate your submission.

Agree and worst case $25 for possible SS benefits ? Seems like the ROI on that is only upside.
