A couple of years ago I was privileged to take Adrian (Oyealiz's youngest) for her driving test and to get her drivers license. I let her use my C4 for the test because it was an automatic.
Adrian is not like her mother in very many ways. I've actually questioned whether she really is Liz's daughter, but Liz swears she is. Adrian is very shy and she has never really been comfortable around me but she tries and I do love her for that.
Even though we had an appointment for the test we still had to wait a very long time and endure many uncomfortable silences. We finally get called to go to the parking area and when we do, there stands her instructor.
This guy was every bit of 6'4" and 300 lbs. I wish you could have seen the look of horror on his face when he saw the car Adrian would be driving! I looked at Adrian, she looked at me and we both just cracked up laughing. The rest of the day was fantastic and most importantly she got her license!

That's a fun story:) I think we all remember our driving test. Our tests were done in my own neighborhood. The tester didn't know it but the spot he picked for me to do the parallel park was in front of my own house. Just as I started, I caught a glimpse of my mother watching out the window.....
I passed.

Talk about a blast from the past!!!! :)
She loved that Vette and would have driven it with an auto, no doubt. But the 6 spd thing made her nervous, and nervous is obviously NOT good for a kiddo driving!
So for her 17th bday, this is what I got for her: the EXACT vehicle she wanted. (Maybe Mark's right: Whose kid is this?!?!?! An automatic SUV is her top choice?!) She is about to turn 19, and she still thanks me for her vehicle every time she comes home from college and absolutely LOVES it! :)
Both my darling girls. :) My daddy's wife made the cool sign that we put on the Jeep.

Yeah, she passed! Yay! Thank goodness Mark was able to take her. It was a crazy mixed up deal. Her permit was in Florida, so she had to get her license in Florida, and we still owned our home there, but we were in Texas. :willy:
The video was tooooo much.

And she never drove the Vette after getting the Jeep!
Actually, I sold the Vette I'd bought her before buying the Jeep. But she drove my automatic one for about 6 months, I think, before I got the Jeep for her 17th birthday. Both girls whined when I sold that Vette, but neither ever drove it. :willy:

My instructor was this very hot looking 6'3" very nicely built WV state police officer who I thought was gonna cry when he saw the car I was taking my test in. He barely fit in the thing and couldn't reach between his legs to put the seat back so I had to do it for him.:leaving:

Remember the story of when (because my Louisiana license was 7 days past the due date) I had to retake my drivers test in Georgia? The uniformed woman (who looked exactly like a prison warden in a movie!) said "You need to go as fast as you can, and still be able to bring your car to a controlled stop, between here and that stop sign up ahead." We were in a testing lot at the DL office. I said "Are you serious?" (After all, I was in a Vette, what the heck was she thinking???) She said yes and repeated her instructions. I asked AGAIN. She said Yes.
So I nailed it and brought it back to a controlled stop at the stop sign. :D
She was pinned to the seat, of course, and when I stopped, she sounded like a teenager giggling. The whole prison warden look/act was totally destroyed.:rofl::rofl:
She passed me without even making me parallel park. She was probably afraid I knew some trick for putting the car in the spot sideways in a very quick fashion.

She LOVED running the Dragon with me when she was younger. Then she was a passenger in a car that was totally out (the fault of the other driver, not the girl Adrian was with), and she's been very cautious ever since. As a mom, I really prefer that, of course. :D

I don't know, Mark. I just hung up the phone with her. I think she's very much my kid. What do you think? ...
She talked the entire time, loudly, in a snit over the lab not notifying her yet about whether she got the position as lab TA for next year even though it's been a week since she applied and she has the highest grade of anyone in the classes and why do people not follow up and return her emails and how in the world can they run things that way and she's going to contact the head TA to find out.....

Mark posted on CF about the drivers' test. It was boneyarded.
She ended up driving my c5 which was automatic, but didn't ever really drive the 6 spd one that I bought for her. Ah well! One day she'll learn. She really wants to drive my Camaro, so it may be the car that gets her comfortable with driving a manual. :)
