Well we just had a huge storm come through and trashed the cars. First thing is we are okay.

On cars can these dents be worked out w/o painting? Just purchased a brand new car only has 2200 miles and now I have dents.

Thanks

Can you get us pics and are here any creases in the dents?

First thing to try is to just leave it out in the sun for a few months and see if it takes care of itself. Serious.

look up the compressed air can trick. Youtube is full of the how too videos, but the gist of it is hold the can upside down so it sends freezing air out then you make a few circular passes, working from the middle out then you use a blow dryer and put it on it hotest setting and make passes back and forth over the dent untill it pops out

Hail damaged cars are often considered totaled in the insurance company's eyes.

If it were me, that's what I would be hoping for. A complete replacement.

I have seen the results of the "Ding Doctors" work on a hail damaged car and it was perfect.....It would be a good choice if the have them in your area.But......As mentioned above, your insurance company will have the last word on what to do......Good luck......:)

They repaired a car I had a few years ago...couldn't tell there was any damage at all once they got done.

Double that size here, no creases that I can see, smooth dents.

My truck is a '97 so not much of a worry there since it is so old, have not even had the Equinox 2 months and this happens.

Oh with out a doubt the insurance company is going to handle this, part of the reason I carry a $0 deductible on comp. I just needed to know if it is repairable w/o painting.

Now the power is out.

My daughter's Honda had bad hail damage and the paintless dent repair got them all out. Cost $3600 in 2002. Insurance paid for it less deductible. Then two weeks later, she totalled the car. :slap:

Looks like another round coming, I also have holes in the siding on one side of the house. The insurance companies will be busy for sure.

Sounds promising that these dent guys can work miracles.

So glad to hear that you are ok. These storms are just unbelievable. :(

We had a bad hail storm come through back in 2001. There was a local company called the Dent Doctors. They did an awesome job of removing dents that did not have any creases, they were totally gone. They even fixed a couple that were creased to where unless you looked real close you could not tell there was ever any damage. Hopefully you have a reputable place near you.

With that size hail, if the cars were outside, that's a given. :(

You had hail TWICE the size AU Eagle posted? Seriously? That size hail would ruin a car and roof for sure. If you're thinking it's reparable, it must not have been out in that size hail?

She did say some of the the hail was bigger than that, but she grabbed a piece, got smacked and didn't go back for more. Be interested to see the pics of her car in the morning though.

Yipes on getting smacked!!! Did you tell her just take pix, don't go OUT there?!

I thought the OP said his hail was twice that size.

I don't doubt it, they just kept on getting hit with storms, she had electric lines and poles fall right outside her property. Been a stressful night for sure.

I totally understand what you are going thru right now. Springtime brings all sorts of interesting weather and the end results. :sadangel:

We've had small hail damage before to the our cars, and most of the dents did indeed eventually pop out on their own, especially after they'd been sitting out in the sun for an extended period of time. I've never tried the Dent Doctors.
We had another huge hail storm come thru our area late Sunday night. As of today, two of our cars (2001 4Runner and a 2005 Scion xb)have been totaled by the insurance company. We're taking the 3rd car (2010 Highlander) in on Friday to get a verdict on it. We're sort of hopeful that it will be repairable.

Damage to the 4Runner, which had the worst damage. The windshield is smacked up, but didn't shatter.

NikiQ...Sick mess for sure. I have to decide what to do about all our vehicles that were outside, too. :(

First thing, I put them in storage like I had them in Houston. Kind of like shutting the barn door to keep the cows in when they're already gone.

I am sick, to say the least.

Hopefully everyone on here is safe. Remember the cars can be replaced ( says the guy from Houston who had no bad weather).

Hail sucks for sure! I have been caught in some ping pong ball sized hail and that hurt!! I am amazed that the damage to people's cars Is not worse.

Let's not forget about the shingles and the damage that hail does to them. That is when the cost really start to add up.

Stay safe!

Called the insurance comapny at 6.30 this morning already got a call back from the agent.

Claims on cars have been submitted, she said I will hear within 24 hours from an adjuster to set the course of action.

As for the house I do have a $750 ded, the guy that did the siding three years ago is on the way, most likely based on the entire siding cost three years ago I will pay myself to have one side redone vs. filing a claim.

If the new car has to be painted vs. paintless dent removal I hope it is totaled, I would not be surprised if they total the truck based on years and if so I will stop the claim on it and fix it myself. Just can't afford to replace it.

As mentioned earlier the hail was larger than pictured but it was mixed. Just imagine how big to knock holes in siding, especially since siding has a little air cushion behind it.

Just glad I we are okay w/o injuries. :hurray:

:iagree: and have your insurance company check your house's roof as well for damage, after last year's hail storm we were only going to have them replace the siding and didn't think of the roof - dude from state farm knew he would replace the roof without even going up there, hail dents the shingles and <6 months later the integrity of the shingle starts to decline rapidly

Not sure intital thoughts make me say cosmetically better but I think there would be stress fractures in the paint you might be able to see.

I have a hard toneau cover on the back of the Ford, fiberglass, and it appears possibly dimpled however it always had dimples from the manufacturing process so not sure if that was new or not.

Good to know, some hail damage veterans here are saying it is fixable with the above method. Do you think the paint at all was compromised?

Not in my case. Years after it still looked like it never happened.
