Been some uninvited and unknowns entering without permission or knowledge….. My security cameras are working overtime…..

Live in a gated community. Main gate manned by security personnel, other gates need RFID tag for entrance. No need to worry about porch pirates or people going door to door selling or promoting things

Gated with security cameras and alarm.
We're set-back off the roadway a ways on a hill so we can see anything coming for quite a ways out.
Perimeter fence is electrified. Not concerned with criminals, just large hungry or rabid wildlife that wont reason. And to keep livestock in.

I wish I could, more in summer then off season we have people come up our private beach entrance past 3 signs that say it's private and no street access :wtf:

Frankly, the gate has two purposes. To keeps the dogs in and to keep undesirables out. Anyone can climb the gate, but making it down the driveway intact would be a trick. Particularly at night. These dogs miss nothing.

Texas has an open beach law, meaning the portion of the beach closest to water is a public easement, supposedly accessible to anyone. So buyers know what they are getting into when they buy gulf frontage property.
In Texas, public access to Gulf Coast beaches is not just the law, it is a constitutional right.
Walking along the beach in Texas has been a privilege since Texas was a Republic, and the Texas Land Commissioner protects this public right for all Texans by enforcing the Texas Open Beaches Act.
Under the Texas Open Beaches Act the public has the free and unrestricted right to access Texas beaches, which are located on what is commonly referred to as the "wet beach," from the water to the line of mean high tide. The dry sandy area that extends from the "wet beach” to the natural line of vegetation is usually privately owned but may be subject to the public beach easement. The line of vegetation may shift due to wind, and wave and tidal actions caused by storms and hurricanes.
Local Beach Access Plans
Cities and counties along the coast are required to adopt laws to protect the public's beach access rights and outline local coastal construction requirements. These local laws are adopted as a beach access and dune protection plan. The Land Office reviews local beach access plans and certifies that they meet the minimum state standards set forth in the Open Beaches Act, Dune Protection Act, and the General Land Office Beach/Dune Rules. Individual beach access plans can be found in the Programs, Tools & Resources

In our community we have a large percentage of people who are former Military, Retired police and fire, several active duty police and fire and many many armed and training citizens.

Naw. I get people walking or driving on my property occasionally. Doesn't bother me, blink twice and they're gone. Only my house has a make my day policy. Feel free to break in if you need some excitement
My driveway is three cars wide so it is the popular spot to turn around. :toetap:
Floridiots love to turn around in mine. It avoids having to travel another 50 feet to the wide Tee intersection where even their Chevrolet Subdivision can negotiate a U turn easily.
Instead of a gate, maybe I should just paint it to look like snow. :D
and a dry moat (arroyo)!
yeah, you can walk around it, but it's 100yards to the house.

That's what my wife tells people when they ask about the gate and dogs.
She's says, "Oh, we're fine. This is to protect the public."
She knows me too well.

No gates or fences needed. Everyone in our development of 7500 acres is armed and more than willing to protect their property and their neighbor's property.

I can get into the gated community next door at will simply by tailgating behind a legitimate resident; I've done it hundreds of times over the last 20 years. But if I'm in a real hurry I can just punch in the gate code (which I know from shoulder-surfing residents as they punched in the code with poor OPSEC). Oh, and every delivery driver (pizza, DoorDouche, InstaCart, Amazon, UPS, FedEx, Ad Nauseum) who has ever delivered to your neighborhood knows the gate code too. ;)
Don't think for a moment that your Amazon packages are safe just because you live behind expensive gates.

Yes, I've had a Liftmaster operator for years.
You just have to figure out the size of the gate, ground loop installation, etc...I have mine setup to only operate RF - no ground loops or access without a remote.

No. Back has a privacy fence all the way around. Cameras front and back record 24/7. House has alarm triggers on every door and window. Garage and entrance doors have motion detectors. Two dogs, and lots of home defense items throughout the residence.

Small 6 foot privacy fence. Pitty/lab mix lives here now. She is an alarm in itself.
Kids, adult kids broke into 3 vehicles the other night. Never came near my house, as they were spooked by something.
Maybe one day I can rent a house with a perimeter like some here.
Only one on the street. Bit of a celebrity here :yesnod:

When there is a gated community there is usually a home owner association. I will not allow my neighbors dictate what I can and cannot do with my private property.
So no, I do not or ever will live in a gayted neighborhood.

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

Does Chicom 54 count when up close and personal to break the language barrier for lack of Mandarin.
As far as Spanish, seems we are getting Portuguese too.

I live in a gated community, no guard gate, helps a little, but aholes who want to get in just pushed the gate and break the mechanical arm, gate is usually undamaged.
Of course the board, all would be in MENSA if they could add a zero to the right of their IQ score, decided cameras would catch the gate breakers.
Quote for cameras and storage of 168 hours was $20+K, but I killed it for them, as explained the police will not provide tag info unless a crime was being investigated, and even then may not opt to disclose.
I do not need security assistance, I have Ringo.
So you are a bend over and take it kind of guy.

Gates operate by RFID tag affixed to your car windshield. No numbers punching involved. Gates also come down very quickly behind the vehicle so someone tail gating will have the gate come down on their vehicle, I have had people try to follow me through a gate and I stop and warn them their car is going to get damaged if they try.
Residents are advised if they see someone trying to evade gates, contact security and they will have an officer there in minutes
Been here for five years and never heard anyone complain about package thefts.:seasix:
