My 1915 Ford T came with a marked stick. Funny thing is, when I sold the car in 2018, it's 103 year old gas tank was still fine. My '63 Bug was the first year Beetle to have a gas gauge. Earlier models had a reserve petcock lever on the floor. 73983

Jim and his friends sure enjoyed their Corvette that summer. So much so that they vowed to put an engine in it for next year's cruise.

Vette being pushed is a '59 or '60 and the people pushing are pros...they aren't pushing on the 'glass, but instead the bumper and door areas. :seasix:

For years I've watched TV shows and movies and you can tell who 'car guys' are by the way they close the car door. Car guys do it gently but firmly, and non-car guys tend to slam the door, showing lack of mechanical understanding and awareness. The way someone closes a door, hood, trunk, or pushes a car tells a lot. :seasix:

That and it would be near impossible to push it using the glass

That, and the dipper hanging on the water bucket!
That's a kick ass movie. Opening scene is shot right by my High School in Oakland CA. All the bikes are kick start, and all of them are burning and leaking oil. As good as it gets.
Wonder where the gas station scene was, looks like small town downtown somewhere also up in the Bay area similar to the gas stations I remember going to with my grandpa when I was a kid.
My group of riding buddies would call those old Harley Panhead engines "Jiffy Pops" after the stove top popcorn
Three filming locations: Bakersfield and Pioneer Village in N. Bakersfield, Oakland, and San Francisco.
I would have to watch the opening scene to try to place the gas station. Bako has hills, some decent ones as you get by the grapevine or Tehachapi Mtns.

I thought only the ‘58 came with the silver stripe down the tail lamp lens cover

'58 was a one-off year. Had two huge chrome spears down the trunk lid, which this car doesn't have. Also had a louvered hood the 59's and '60's did not have.

IMDB says biker scene, hell raising was shot at 19th ST Bakersfield, these scenes do have a Bako feel to it. Love those gas prices!

When I was a kid we had that same year and color Mercury, but in a two door fastback.

You're ain't lying. :funny:
Great movie.
My HS car was a hand-me-down and the gauge hadn't worked in years. I had no problem tracking mileage with gas purchases. I'd drive up to work, or to NH, VT or western MA to go hiking and camping and never ran out of gas. Big Ford LTD, 351W-2V that consistently got 17 mpg.
Then my kid sister turned 16-1/2 and I was forced to share the car with her. She'd write down on my notebook when and how much gas she bought. Somehow the mileage decreased and I ran out of gas three times. Once when travelling for work and I missed an appointment- pissed my boss off. Once late and night and I had to hitch home- got propositioned by a faggot. Third time was during the day and I was driving my parents to pick up their car from their mechanic- that got their attention and Little Sis could no longer drive, which then became, "my car".
