Dueling family traditions here. I was raised Catholic, so we observed "The Twelve Days of Christmas". We would put up the decorations around December 22-23, put up the tree and decorated it as a Christmas Eve tradition, left it up until the Epiphany on January 6th, and took it all down immediately following that.

Wife's family put the decorations up starting the day after Thanksgiving, and ripped them down on January 2nd.

So stuff goes up when one of us feels like putting it up, and gets taken down when someone gets motivated to take it down. My ceramic tree ALWAYS stays up until 1/7 or later, that is the only non-negotiable piece for me.

when i was a kid, the decorations often stayed up thru Super Bowl, when it was held late Jan/early Feb.

over the last few years, we've left things up until after Jan 6, so likely the week after the college playoff game (Jan 9 this year), then i'll strike the wreaths on the gates and stuff inside (that no one can see anyway).

Right after the 1st of the year. That will be the signal for me to get on some painting projects. Like to get any painting done before I have to start mowing in the spring.

Lucky, for some damn reason, the weeds/WILD plants/etc have taken over several lawns in this burb last year, and my back yard is about 8" high at it's LO point, leaves about the size of a quarter, and dense as hell.....

so to buy 20 gallons of gasoline and sprayer to take care of the issue.....pisses me off, need wait for gas to come down before I start that effort.....

There's always a few that wait so long the needles on the trees dry out, fall all over the house, then too many lights plugged in the 6 ways, catch the house on fire.....
