I just paid $0.63/ board foot for a 2x8x12 at Lowes. That's $633/ thousand, or 63% higher than than the current futures price of $388. Since retail will always lag behind, I expect them to come down a bit more by spring.
Might be a good time to start my addition.

May be stable, but still stupid high.

I hope the price is falling, as has been at 3X higher since the china flu fraud.
***that will get you banned on the inferior forum
I got three quotes for an L-shaped wall unit about a year ago:
1) 12' X 9.5' high with 15" adjustable shelving AND same for other section at 6' width
2) LEDs at top, no mirrors, no doors, no drawers, no plumbing, no electrical
3) Crown modeling at top and bottom, and vertical every 36"
While called a wall unit, I think a 'nicer' bookcase is more appropriate.
My quotes were $22K and higher.
None could guarantee a wood color match to my bar, they tried to sell me on press board with laminate to get the color match, I refused, I wanted wood.
So I said no, went with three floating shelves, and then two-shelf bookcases below--I was able to stack another row on top of the bookcases.
The wife did most of the work on the shelving, went 2 or 3 instead of one bracket, weight should never be an issue.
TOTAL COSTS TO ME = $1,200 , SAVED OVER $20K, and, IMO, looks much better than a bookcase.
I have shared this pic before, the bar light is ultra-custom, and the wood is a cask stave, AKA slat, from an Ardbeg barrel--could not have afforded it if I paid $25K for the bookcase:

Very most excellent point, and even less painful when one agrees with the fraudulent administration regarding the curret staggering prices are only transitory--WTF?!?!?

BTW, prices for wood flooring HAS NOT LOWERED IN 2+ YEARS!!
I know this as I had recent water damage.
About two years ago, the $15K downstairs bathroom renovation, everything old went to the trash, did not include the idiot plumber replacing the 23-year old toilet o-ring, as the $20 would have killed his margin--effing moron idiot, as I have replaced toilets, and everytime opted to replace the ring.
So, now I need about 150 sqft of flooring, and guess what, floor & decor discountinued, and the manufacturer is overseas, and I cannot get any replacement planks.
When at their store last week I almost feel over, as all wood is at least up 100% from two years ago, the nicer stuff is up 150+%.

You can get a nice discount at Home Depot when the dipshit at the cashier can’t tell the difference between three quarter and half inch 4X8 sheathing
I have no patience with home depot, as 5 within 10 miles of my house.
All suck steamy asses, as never do they have anyone on the floor, once you get an employee to help you realize they know nothing, they take 20 minutes to tell you if they have it in storage area if none are on shelves.
And if you actually find what you want, there are no cashiers, only self-pay, only four self-pay registers, and you will also get a few people in front of you that have never used a credit card reader.
I only go there if I can order on-line, and pick-up in a locker.
If they sold cold beer I may visit more often,,,

I bought some 6" baseboard there 2+ years ago when me and the wifey, mostly here laid down 1,400 sq ft of hardwood.
I am in the molding aisle and they were sized at 15 feet long, I told the dood I need them cut in half for transport, he told me they NEVER do that.
Went up front and got a manager, he explained to the employee this is done all the time.
I feel a little loyalty for them after they had to discount a countertop and install 65%, and also had to eat $12K in carpeting.

Doubtful.
HD has bar code stickers on their plywood. And that’s what is scanned.

$8K today will get a you a semi-steel impact double-door entry, and maybe a little left over for very basic door handle and dead-bolt.
Must have been a good morning to sleep in,,,
I did sleep in to 730 am this morning. No reason to get up any earlier. Retired, nothing to do but run errands and do my walk, and it's cold as hell out.
Happy to spend late morning-early afternoon on the 'net, checking on STS updates. (Sorry Yadkin).:seasix:

I hope so.
I've been putting of studding up my basement. My carpenter cousin was on his way to help shortly after China CCP released COVID when my wife and son came home from the doctors and my son had COVID. I sent my cousin home. Then lumber prices priced me out of doing it for now. I knew I should have bought all the materials before he came out to help.

Labor rates are going to offset anything if you need fencing, for example. Inflation and such.
I had a quote a couple months after my neighbors, mine in Nov. 8600, 24 dollars a foot of labor.
Neighbor on the other side, 11000 26 dollars a foot after several different quotes. Not sure the crazines', or if that is normal.
I am just going to do the boards myself, and get some labor from work. They are carpenters. I can pay them in cash and beer, and one is has the necessary license/bonded too to do the work

 I don't care how you paint it...Dirty Joe Biden has a chicken in the Hen House:yesnod:
Chicken in a Hen House: Partner A goes down to the ground on hands and knees. Partner B crouches on Partner A's back, placing their knees over the hips and hands over the shoulder blades. Bridge over Water: Partner A lays down, face up. Partner B makes a bridge over Partner A by doing downward facing dog.

That Nancy has been on my ignore list for months now. That brand of homosexuality is just too strong for me to tolerate, so I don't. You'd be well to put him on ignore as well. :yesnod:

Wait, so low lumber prices are now bad? Or good? Oh, so confusing.
Wait, so low lumber prices are now bad? Or good? Oh, so confusing.
As always, crashing economies creates winners and losers. Companies like Blackrock go in and clean up buying distressed assets, George Soros benefits also by cannibalizing the ashes, and the losers are basically everyone else, although people with money to make cash purchases can at least try to break even on what they lost by also buying distressed assets for cheap.
Compare and contrast that with the Trump MAGA strategy of truly creating a "rising tide lifts all boats" economy of full employment AND low inflation. Ask yourself.....were you better off financially two years ago, or better off now?
But to your question, inflation is always a bad thing, it's a tax on everyone, rich and poor alike. Brandon's anti-American policies only exacerbated the inflation Trump started by signing porkulus Covid spending packages, free money checks, etc. That was a mistake by Trump, and Brandon not only doubled down on it, he crippled our energy industry and intentionally ****ed over all of us. The hyper inflation is a result of that, and America's death is practically a certainty now that the Brandon regime has killed off the petrodollar. Now that the rest of the world feels emboldened to trade oil in Yuan, or Rubles, there's nothing left to prop up our printed out of thin air US dollars. I don't know if we can even come back from that.

Lumber will come down to a point and then lumber companies will cut back for fear of prices falling any further... That'll be a Great time to get lumber as when they cut back and economy rebounds it'll be as high as ever. I have a list already made out for an addition been putting off for 2 years now.
Plywood is still stupid expensive.

1/2 year ago, I needed a piece of plywood to replace a rotten piece on a ~35y/o shed next to the house.....off the stack was ASStronomical.....like 75 bux/sheet for 1/2 inch I got lucky and went to the cart there and found a damaged sheet of 3/4 ply for about 40 bux, and I had a Qpon for some ten bux....so for 30 bux, I got that, and have a chunk left over even yet.....:issues::dance::rofl:

Crashing economy? Where?
Inflation is not a bad thing. I’m fact it’s a necessary thing. Econ 101. HIGH inflation is a bad thing and what we have now, which was started and accelerated in 2020, is a bad thing.
You really want to know if I was better off financially two years ago or today? If you do things right, they always get better.
