> Today's Lesson: The word “irony"
>
>> Once in a while, we have to stand back in awe of our government.
>>
>> The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever - to 46 million people.
>>
>> Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Dept. of the Interior, asks us to: "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.”
>>
>> Thus ends today's lesson with the explanation of IRONY…

DAB, my sincere apologies. I completely forgot about the situation and am ashamed I made the inappropriate reply.

Little life lesson, thanks to Gene.

If someone offends you, or says something stupid, or insensitive, or just raw....take a breath, understand that we all have off days where our brain is not fully connected to our mouth or typing fingers, so say a quick prayer that you too are not guilty of what you are the recipient of, intentional or not.

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Surely, if God has forgiven my numerous sins, how much more should I forgive others?

Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Merry Christmas. :DAB:

I'm sure we all know of someone who, when apparently offended or slighted, will stand up strongly, puff up his chest, make a fist or poke the other in his chest with his stiffened finger, perhaps yell loudly, and overall demand his rights and demand satisfaction for being offended.

maybe he got cut off in line, or you looked at him oddly, or you bought the last package of Peeps...whatever.

we've all seen or been in these situations.

and most of the time, what happens next is a pushing match, or a fight, or deadly violence.

why?

because we don't want to back down, we want to maintain our pride, our standing before others, "i'll show him..."

but what does God demand?

He says that pride is a sin. But He rewards humility.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

stop worrying about how men see you, worry about how God sees you.

you may get treated poorly, be laughed at, called names. but what does God promise? that He will reward you in eternity, which is a lot longer than the moment you are in. and He also calls for you to pray for your enemies.

Matthew 5:10-12 -

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

so don't take offense, pray for people, be patient - for men are but made of dust, and you can't expect much from dust - and be humble.

In all honesty, the only way people fight over a package of peeps is if somebody is crass enough to give one to another person :ack:
