It’s a Clapton signature model in Olympic White. (Not the Custom Shop version the regular production version) I’m not a rabid EC fan by anyone’s definition. What I like about these is the boost circuit. For a signature model it *looks* like your basic Strat as opposed to many other signature models which are too closely associated with the artist for my taste. The Bullseye Zakk Wylde, all the EVH stripped guitars, the Rhodes “V” and the SRV model for example. One of the worst is the Slash Les Paul with that silly top hat on the headstock which is kinda ironic considering the Les Paul Slash made famous - was a replica.

I figured the Clapton model would have the Lace Sensor pups. The one I almost bought wasn't anything special like that. It was just an American made Strat in white with a maple neck. The year was 1995 and the Strat was $650. I walked into the guitar store all set to buy it. I had the green on my hip and cash in the kitty. The guy who owned the store was a Fender Custom Shop dealer and he was busy polishing three new 50th Anniversary Strats that had just come in. He told me that one had already sold, unseen, but that I could have my pick of them if I wanted one. $900. More than I really wanted to spend that day, but faint heart never won fair maiden. I picked the one I liked the best (#949 out of 2,500) and still own it to this day. :cheers: It's been a good guitar. Wonderful fretwork.

The original Clapton Strats came with gold Lace pups. Fender switched to Vintage Noiseless in 2001. I've got both versions and I prefer the Lace. Nothing wrong with the Vintage Noiseless but they're a little glassy and not quite as warm as Lace.

Let's see..... Green Day "when I come Around" and Bush "Glycerine" are the exact same, except Glycerines chord progression starts one step lower on F.

I listen to a lot of old blues. A lot of songs have familiar structures or riffs. I think it's a case of "everyone has already done that". Hell, Duke Robillard has two different songs on different albums that I swear are identical although the titles have changed.
