I once forgot I had a Wrestlemania tape from blockbuster, found it one day when moving the coach, called store and was advised they had already charged my card on account for the tape, like $40--damnit.
I believe it was 17 months, can anyone beat that??

I think I still have Karate Kid from when it was first released. My friend was supposed to return it on his way out of town. He mailed it to me when he found it 10 years later. I had already moved out of state as well.:slap:

I own about a half dozen movies that were never returned. Maybe one day they'll be collector's items. :Jeff '79:

All are very most excellent, much better than crap they make today; the franchise has four movies, although the first one, as for all series, was the best.
I perfected the Crane Kick, I use to kick the top of the door frame regularly, only once did I land on my arse, but I am blaming my socks and the slick tile.

No.
The one with Jaden Smith would have made a billion dollars today. Timing is everything. They had a black Karate Kid way too early to count as "woke".

No.
You need to re-watch, cinematic masterpieces, all have won numerous awards, the skinny kid has like eight, or twelve, oscars statues.

I watched Cobra Kai and noticed I was missing a lot of back story

I normally was borrowing and copying PSX games, for video I rented and taped Laserdiscs from a couple of local joints.

With a plot that deep, I'm not sure how you made any sense of it. :Jeff '79:

Kinda like watching GF3, before watching the first two masterpieces.
Then again, no one has watched GF3 so I apologize.
I was working for Netflix during the Blockbuster hay day building and managing regions of DVD distribution locations. I had free access to unlimited movies so I had no use for Blockbuster.
I recall how Reed Hastings, CEO and founder of Netflix, went to Blockbuster to meet with then CEO John Antioco and offered to sell Netflix to them for $50M and got laughed out of the office. The Blockbuster ownership told him his business model was not scalable and would be over in a couple years at best. Reed committed to bury Blockbuster, which he did very successfully.

Blockbuster, at a time, was larger than their next 100+ competitors.
They failed to recognize that technology would make them obselete.
They failed to leverage their strenghts--all their members' account info, very little work had to be done by them to maintain their dominance and longetivity.
PPVs were very popular in 2014, and was competing with them, they ignored this also.

They brought in some new characters that had obviously come from the movies, but I had no idea who they were.
I only kept watching it because Johnny was funny as hell.
I don't recall ever being in a Blockbuster store. :island14:

I watched a show called "The Last Blockbuster". It was pretty interesting and covers this event.

Let me paint a picture...
Everything blue and yellow
Smelled like old popcorn
Never had any of the movies you actually wanted to watch. ALWAYS go there with a second choice in mind.

The kid took Kempo Karate for three weeks and was a Black belt. Very realistic.
They all sucked. :yesnod:

It was always interesting to listen to Reed tell the story over dinner or in meetings. Reed was and is a visionary and possibly the most intelligent man I’ve met. He always told us on the DVD side he was going to work us out of our jobs as he felt streaming was the future. Because the harder we worked the sooner we would be out of our jobs he gave us huge travel allowances letting us rent the best cars, stay at the best hotels and eat in 5 star restaurants. And the stock options of $15 at the time sure padded the retirement plan. :seasix:
