Friend's neighbor was pushing 500 I bet, went to fat farmnor something about a year ago. Down to 300.
They moved couple months ago. He could barely make the 4 steps onto back porch before surgery or whatever.
Had an uncle with a girlfriend weighed 500 easy, had to go downtown to Toeldo scale to get weighed.
He could pick her up by himself. He was a stud... He'd pick stuff up 2 or 3 people couldn't together.
Fyi her mom was that big also, we helped build an addition for her to move into. 2x12 floor joists 12 inches on center might have been doubled up. Two layers plywood and hardwood over it. The main house was a slab.
There's a guy we see at grocery store who weighs 400 easy.. And he walks a couple of miles to the store.

I don't know but I'm an observer of life so my take on it:
Every time Sally Struthers used to come on TV commercials and asked for food for staving kids whe was bigger, very confusing.
The last time I saw Stacey Abrams on TV she had smaller women orbiting around her.
Abrams wore a black and white Malcom X T-shirt once and a helcopter tried to land on her, so she switched to bright yellow and schoolkids tried to board her...
I looked pretty good at 290ish.

Yes, it is, and I say that as a fat guy. Even if you say, 'well, I have a slow metabolism,' or 'I have thyroid problems,' eating less and exercising more always works. I mean, not to be insensitive, but were there any fat Americans after the Bataan Death March? Fat people in the concentration camps of Cambodia, or Germany?
If you are fat, you are eating too much and exercising too little, or some combo of both.

Had a co-worker who topped 380 or so (just over 6'), and walked with a pronounced limp because of a badly healed broken ankle. In his late 40's he found that he needed double hip replacements (surprise, surprise), but the doc couldn't (or wouldn't) do the surgery unless he got down to 220-230.
To his credit, he got down to the target weight after several months, and had the hip surgeries a few weeks apart. When he returned to work, he practically jogged down the hallways (even with the limp). Unfortunately, I heard that he eventually put back on the majority of the weight within a couple of years.
I say I hope you become an insulin dependant diabetic SOON.:seasix:
If you are saying that is an excuse for being fat, you are dead wrong! Here is a photo of my daughter who has type 1 diabetes and is insulin dependent. That is not a beeper on her hip, that is her insulin pump. :yesnod:

When was the last time you measured your height? Did mine the other day and found out I lost 2 inches. Getting old ain't for sissies LOL.
I think gaining weight has more to do with what you eat and how often you eat rather than how much you eat. I eat huge meals but no sugar and only once a day. Not worth the time to weigh myself, would only see a few pounds difference depending on the season. The video streamers I've seen online who are overweight don't eat large portions but constantly nibble on junk food. Might as well put that crap on an IV drip hahaha.
Gained 20lbs for a short while a few decades back. That sucked! Could really feel the difference on stairs. Can't imagine carrying around an extra 100 pounds 24x7, let alone 2 or 3 hundred. No wonder overweight people have short lives. I haul a 50lb bag of fuel in from the garage twice a day to feed my heater and by the end of Winter it's wearing on me hard.

Agree. I'm about 25lbs overweight and I know I did it. It's eggnog season !! AND, as I have expressed on nearly every poll, I like pie !
I'm 70" in height, weigh 205, my BMI is 29, I suppose I'm obese, been that way for the last 20 years or so. It's tough to get under that 200 number.
Is she available?

KFC and Popeyes both suck. Winco chicken, FTW!
Popeye's has too much coating to be any good. KFC has WAY too much coating to be any good. Even though I am white, I like to make fried chicken at home. I put the right amount of breading and/or panko and it is excellent. When I make chicken wings, the coating is flour based, the kids go crazy for it!

The store cleanliness and customer service the metro Detroit locations have displayed the last ten years or so along with removing cajun rice from the menu have resulted in them being no go here.

Often wonder why a company would remove a popular item from the menu:confused5:
Poor feedback and sales on the item.
Zatarain's Dirty Rice mix is a fairly good replacement for cajun rice with a small tweak or two. The other benefit of cooking it at home is you can bake up a tube or two of jumbo biscuits at a fraction of the takeout cost.

I got up to 250 lbs, got acid ketodosis, Blood sugar was over 400.
My weight has dropped over the years to just barely 200 taking metformin. I eat/drink whatever I want, and cannot gain weight at all.
That being said, I have a friend in Clearwater. Fellow bladesmith and one of the best Art knife makers around.
At least he was.
He has a major weight problem to the extent that at one time, he was probably tipping the scales at around 600 lbs.
He lost a lotta weight, but the damage was done.
Obesity related dementia.
He can no longer do shows, take orders, etc. He forgets a lot.
He's 60.
Sad.

I eat almonds and apples for a snack after dinner if I need something, I would weigh 250+ pounds if I ate ice cream instead.
I weigh 180-185 today, same as in college, I was about 215 four years ago, I lost a lot of muscle, but my back and my knees thank me.
I, like all, know many overweight folks, some have medical reasons, but most, actually more than most, have poor eating habits and do not exercise enough, once you are able to recognize the benefits, the rules become your lifestyle.

Caloric intake. Simple. You can virtually eat anything you want, just eat in moderation, ie calories needed to survive. Adjust accordingly.
I had a co worker, super fit, triathlete. One morning he woke up, blind as a bat. Took him to ER, diabetic. Never knew it. Night before he drank, as we normally did back in the day in the Navy. Doctor told him to start eating right etc. He was a chicken n rice, no soda type guy. Ate very healthy. He was just never diagnosed with Diabetes.
Anyways, I am sticking to it is diet, pure and simple. Eat calories you need to live//

On my first day of Chemical Engineering school, they taught us the following formula:
In = Out + Accumulation
As much as things like "The Atkins Diet" try to convince you that isn't true, it is. Want to eat more, and not gain weight? Simple, take up running or cycling or some other aerobic exercise that burns a shit load of calories. Want to get thinner and don't want to "diet", same answer.

She got stuck sitting on the side of the tub 'cos her legs would no longer support her weight. 4 firemen, 1 police officer, her son and DIL finally got her up after 2 hours.
That was the reason I didn't renew her lease, I saw the writing on the wall.
She had mentioned to me once that Metformin made her gain weight.

This is going to sound so "touristy" but I found the best pizza joint in the most unlikely f places. See, I was raised in Italy and am quite the snob when it comes to Italian food and Mozarella. The real mozarella is made from buffala milk and is soggy because it stays in water/brine until it's used.
Guess where I found the real stuff..... Red Brick Oven at Universal City Walk in Orlando, The Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Studios, and the Mythos restaurant inside of Islands of adventure. They all make their pizzas and Insalata Caprese very well. :yesnod:

It's simple, for every 3,500 calorie deficit you lose a pound, for every 3,500 calorie surplus you gain a pound. How you use or take in calories is up to you.
Also on Metformin and my weight is down about 50 pounds this year, sounds like an excuse.
Supplements are a crap-ton better today than in the past. I think some are available for weight loss but use caution. I was using one with creatine and it caused some issues with my kidney's. I run the ingredients past my doc now, to ensure they are safe for me.

It's simple, for every 3,500 calorie deficit you lose a pound, for every 3,500 calorie surplus you gain a pound. How you use or take in calories is up to you.

Careful with that! Phred's going to call you stupid.
Been called stupid before. Not too concerned about it. :D
Naw, I won't call you stupid. Rather, I will present facts that will make you feel stupid for uttering whatever stupid thing you said that I responded to.
;)
Dont forget the guitar players :seasix:
"As you can see, we've got 4 trumpets, 3 trombones, 5 reeds, a guitar, bass, piano, and of course you couldn't help noticing the 10 strings."

I never said getting a huge amount of calories from sugar is good for you. And of course, someone can be of a healthy weight, and still have a poor diet due to poor food choices. Actually, I see this as supporting my position much more than yours. This video does not specifically address the fact that if you are overweight, more exercise and less calories taken in will cause you to lose weight, do you deny that?
It also glosses over the fact that type 2 diabetes is almost always CAUSED by unfortunate genetics. It is AGGRAVATED by obesity if you have those unfortunate genetics. He asked these "pointed questions" about how is it that obesity is higher here while diabetes is lower, as if he is some sort of genius who has discovered some long-hidden secret, but every one of them can be answered with the preceding nugget of brilliance. As a type 2 diabetic myself, I'd bet I have read a shit load more about that than you have, so if you want to get into some kind of debate with me on that, go ahead.
He also touches on the whole "Atkins" thing, which is all about "if you're fat, it's not your fault". Dr. Atkins was a genius, not a medical genius, but a marketing genius. Go to Amazon and search on "Atkins Diet" and see how many titles come up. That whole thing is all about selling diet books, and the weak minded have been falling for it for decades.
Why am I not surprised you fell for the clot shot thing too?

And what, exactly, do you think my position is?

This is going to sound so "touristy" but I found the best pizza joint in the most unlikely f places. See, I was raised in Italy and am quite the snob when it comes to Italian food and Mozarella. The real mozarella is made from buffala milk and is soggy because it stays in water/brine until it's used.
Guess where I found the real stuff..... Red Brick Oven at Universal City Walk in Orlando, The Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Studios, and the Mythos restaurant inside of Islands of adventure. They all make their pizzas and Insalata Caprese very well. :yesnod:
I was stationed in Northern Italy for a year in Verona. I can assure you, pizza made in Italy is nothing like American/Italian pizza. It is delicious, but nothing like here. Hell, I once ordered a "loaded" pizza and it came with all the usual items, but....in the middle were two hot dogs cut in half long way and put in a square and in the center of the square were two sunny side up fuking eggs.... So good luck finding a local pizza place that makes "Italian style" pizza....

I never liked the cuisine from Northern Italy. Food on the Boot is like here in the states. Everything up north sucks and you have to go south for the good stuff. :yesnod:

The only place I have been to in Italy is Rome. The pizza there was excellent, very much like NY style pizza, but the cheese was awesome. There was a little market a few blocks from where we stayed that had the best fresh bread. Any of the restaurants within a block of a popular tourist site had shitty food and ridiculous prices. Get off the beaten path just a few blocks, and the restaurants were awesome!!

Sorrento was the same way. We'd (family) always go into some alley off the beaten path to find a ristorante or trattoria with no tourists except for us. The food was always much better. :yesnod:

Also on Metformin and my weight is down about 50 pounds this year, sounds like an excuse.
Also, combine this with Jardiance and it will happen in about 2 weeks :D

Also on Jardiance, its acts like a very strong diuretic which will cause an immediate drop in fluids for sure 4 pounds on average. Couple that with a BP med with HCT and dehydration becomes an issue. Well see how big an impact it was as Im coming off the diabetes meds in January. :woohoo:
