Went to the range where the Houston Bomb Squad does training and watched them blow stuff up.

It is right next to the Houston airport. In fact they have a spotter that tells the guy setting off the charges, when a plane is landing so they hold the explosion until the plane has landed. Must be quite a sight from the plane windows.
The tire that blew into the sky was unreal. I have no idea how high it went, but it had to be 6-70 feet. I lost it with the camera and caught it on the way down.
Unfortunately it is for EOD students only. We had new equipment we wanted to test, so they let us hang with them.

Yes, IAH.
They have several fake explosives and drug labs out there in CONEX trailers to educate students/rookies on what to look for when they arrive on scene. The two can look similar. Crazy things you'd never think were bombs.
Cool stuff. Nice guys. Great time.

What new equipment were you testing? The first explosion looked like ANFO. What was the second explosion? I used to do a lot ofvwork with the Houston PD bomd squad.

I would pay for the explosives if they were blowing up gray travel vans.
