Mine next home search will be even more difficult.
After I sell the current home, 5/3/3, all I need is 1,000 max living sqft, with a 20+ car garage, if I can find one I will eventually petition the county to split the lot so I can sell the house and reside solely in the garage.

That's what my buddy in Texas did. He bought some land and the first thing he build was a 4 bay industrial size opening garage with a shop on the side. He and his wife then moved into the shop area for a few years while they planned and built their house.
