A friend of mine, who asked to remain anonymous, called up his propane supplier and told them that he was mailing them a check for $5000, to be used to supply fuel to needy customers this winter. His stipulation was that they be truly needy, not crack houses or welfare cheats. When asked how they were to determine that, he told them to let their driver's make the calls, because they are the ones who would know. :seasix:

That's a great thing, so happy to see we still have good people out there. One of my weaknesses is a good fountain diet coke while out and about. Whenever I run through a drive through to get one during December I always pay for the car behind me, just paying it forward during the season. :cert:

I’ve done that for 5+ yrs at the local donut/coffee shop. It’s amazing how often something like that gets replicated.

And creative but I wonder how that will work out on a tax return; he better have a receipt, even then it might get looked at hard.. But, maybe he doesn't care..

Strange how global cooling never gets any mention. Apparently Russians are claiming to have measured the largest amount of Antarctic ice ever since records began. Bet you didn't hear that on your TV news

Was looking at some solar radiance data (W/m2 yearly averages) earlier today while researching the previous warm period. It's on a downward slope and indicating a downward trend. Temperature rise looks to have leveled off. Fingers crossed this turns around.

my last propane fill up was about 650, i'm due for two fill ups later this month (house tank and shop tank), so that should run about 1300-1500 (they'll be lower than last time).

being an adult means you just spend money.... :DAB:

Agreed, you have to hope the people you help that can will pay it forward so more people get reached.

They are not a charity so he knows he won't get a deduction.

Those are Extended ASCII characters.

It's performed on a keyboard by holding the alt key down while typing the corresponding numeric code on the keypad, then releasing the alt key. So typing [alt168] for example would result in the ¿ you are seeing. Since you're not typing it then I can only assume that's how your browser is interpreting it. No idea why it would do that, settings I suppose? No idea how to fix it.

Figured - the man has a good heart, sadly in my cynical geriatric view I've found that there is a group of people that simply can't be helped with monetary largess, they have "bulit-in" financial flaws that just can't be overcome - I have helped a bunch of relatives that fall into that category.. Get then out of one bind and in a few months they are in another, with a few very gratifying exceptions.

Your friend has done a good thing....

There is a local Chinese restaurant here in town and local police from 3 or 4 towns here will be seen eating there....when I go in and see them eating I'll pay for their food without telling them....:seasix:
