View Full Version : Thank you...
To all those who have reached out to me over the last 4 months since Linda passed away to check on me and ask how i'm doing.
It's been an emotional time, full of sadness, with some laughter mixed in now and then. I'm still adjusting to being alone everyday, but making a go of it on average.
Thank you for your calls, your PMs, and your listening ears and replies to my ramblings.
I did start decorating for Christmas yesterday, got the large wreath up on the gate, and got some window candles placed throughout the house. Will do the tree later, and perhaps some other things from the 46 boxes of decorations we have. Linda would spend a good 2 weeks putting stuff out and about. I'm not doing that level of effort, but I'll do some.

The absence of Linda, combined with the absence of Christmas decorations, could have been a huge mistake. I'm glad you took her advice and decorated.

Good on you, man. I have a buddy who woke up in May to discover that his wife had passed in her sleep. He had a golf trip with a bunch of friends planned for Scotland in September and was going to back out. We all told him Christy would have wanted him to go, that it wasn't disrespectful of her memory to go, and it would be good for him. He elected to go and thanked us all for the recommendations later.
We all go through the process differently, but doing the things that are important to you, especially if they were important to your lost one, is very valuable.
she has a bunch of Santas, about 12-16" high, various designs and materials, about 10 or so I think.
she would put them all over the house, 1 here, 2 there.....
i think i'm going to clear off the bar top above the kitchen island and arrange them all there, so i can enjoy them every day.
and she has about 12 more Christmas themed pictures, most are counted cross stitch she had done over the years, i'll get those out and swap out pics here and there.
and lastly, put up more wreaths (about 6 more), and then the tree with lights and ornaments.
and that will suffice.

I have a deal each year with my wife of 47 years, she can't buy more Christmas decorations/trees unless she gets rid of some.....and every year - the deal falls through.
Get through it pal and remember the good times..
