There used to be an event called “Penguin Day” held by the Berkeley Waterski Club. New Year’s Day, we would meet up at the ski lake in Berkeley adjacent to Highway 80. Jump in the water behind a ski boat and ski the length of the slalom course and back. Had this one friend who was dumb enough to try actually crossing the wake behind a boat he had never skied behind to only fall multiple times. I did the event a few times. Still have the patches somewhere. Too old for that shit now.
