Kroger had to pay $180,000 to workers who were fired after they wouldn't wear LQBTQ+ pride symbols

Story by [email protected] (Kenneth Niemeyer)

An Arkansas federal judge ordered Kroger to pay two former employees $180,000.
They were fired from the store after refusing to wear an apron with a "multicolored heart," court documents show.
"Both have sincerely held religious beliefs that homosexuality is a sin and that they cannot support or promote it," the judge wrote.

Kroger has to pay $180,000 to two former employees who were fired after they refused to wear a company apron with a phrase that they considered to be an LGBTQ+ symbol after a lawsuit.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit on behalf of the two employees who were disciplined and ultimately fired from their jobs at a Kroger in Conway, Arkansas. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Brenda Lawson and Trudy Rickerd on September 14, 2020, in Eastern Arkansas District court, according to court documents.

Good. I'll be damned if I would let any employer force their perversions on me.

Society may try to force it down our throats, but they cannot make us swallow it if we simply refuse. I refuse to be a willing participant in their make-believe world.

It was right the first time. Take a look at this case. Kroger corporate collaborated and pushed this on it's lowest level employees. All down the chain, managers were told to enforce this, and I did indeed see these at my local Kroger's store. The store management, when notified the two employees didn't want to wear the marked aprons, could have simply and quietly let the employees wear the aprons they hired on to wear. But they didn't do that. They pushed, the employees pushed back, management fired the employees, and now there's a $ 180K bill to be paid, all because the issue had to be pushed all the way.

At least as of now it has a good outcome. Course there are higher court's lets see where or if it goes!

How times have changed.

Once upon a time employers did not allow workers to voice or wear their beliefs.

Now the employers force you to wear and voice their beliefs.

Hopefully more stupid employers will pay for their selfish, and stupid, double-standards.

call a he a she - oh, you 'mis-gendered', shame on you.

call it perversion - oh, so you're a homophobe.

or a transphobe, or a woman hater, or islamaphobe, or racist, or white supremest, or a nazi, ......

you stand up for what you believe is right and moral, and most of society will shit all over you.

Surprisingly, the EEOC actually did something for the taxpayers:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Kroger Company, doing business as Kroger Store No. 625 in Conway, Ark., violated federal law when it fired two employees who asked for a religious accommodation to avoid wearing an emblem they believed contradicted their religious beliefs, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed yesterday.

According to the EEOC’s suit, the Conway Kroger implemented a new dress code, which included an apron depicting a rainbow-colored heart emblem on the bib of the apron. The women believed the emblem endorsed LGBTQ values and that wearing it would violate their religious beliefs. According to the EEOC, one woman offered to wear the apron with the emblem covered and the other offered to wear a different apron without the emblem, but the company made no attempt to accommodate their requests. When the women still refused to wear the apron with the emblem visible, the EEOC charged, Kroger retaliated against them by disciplining and ultimately discharging them.

Such alleged conduct violates the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The EEOC filed suit in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, Central Division, Civil Action No. 4:20-cv-01099, after first attempting to reach a pre-litigation settlement through its conciliation process. The suit seeks monetary relief in the form of back pay and compensatory damages, as well as an injunction against future discrimination.

Ridiculously short sighted on Kroger's part, but obviously people are beating down the doors to work at all those promising minimum wage jobs.

Love James. Some of my favorite scripture. :seasix: He did not mince words. :Jeff '79:

James 4:4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

Good, filthy pole smokers should all die from AIDS.

That would be

Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Have you not watched TV lately? The only thing people actually die of these days is not being injected with the Clot Shot. Everyone else with serious chronic illnesses, including AIDS, are out living fantastic, fun filled lives, driving classic cars, and doing fun stuff thanks to Big Pharma.

I myself am contemplating coming down with something, maybe the plague or lumbago, just so I can start having fun, too.

And many (mostly those on the left) have convinced themselves that these degenerate fools are born homosexual. And they are hell bent (literally) on convincing the rest of America the same.

Never shopped it but the one near my house back in my college days was unionized. Only reason I know that is because they went on strike, got fired, and the store changed its name. None of them were rehired and the place was picketed for years. The new workers were for sure minimum wage after that.
