I have more issue with the Dunning-Kruger effect; that's where dumb-azz people simply do NOT know how dumb they are and claim expertise in areas they really are clueless about - yeah its an actual thing. MANY narcissits qualify.

Their estimation of the perfromance of a task is light years above an actual objective assessment of that same performance.
