Every change of season it's the same shit.
Beginning of summer is spent doing AC repair and beginning of winter is doing heater repair.
I turned on the furnace last night since it dipped in to the 40s. Nothing.
I have a spare control board and a spare flame sensor...so I installed them. NOTHING.
System cycles on, the evacuator (?) blower turns on, the igniter glows orange, the gas turns on, the burners light...and in 5 seconds it shuts down.
Typically this is a flame sensor issue...but I just put a new one in. I took it out, wiped it down with alcohol in case it had residue from manufacturing...same thing. 5 seconds the system shuts off. I took the old one and cleaned it with a Scotchbrite pad, and bent it a little to be closer to the flame...same issue.
All grounds are good. Two spare boards do the same thing. In total I have swapped in and out, three circuit boards and two flame sensors with the same results.
Any ideas? (Not ready to call the guy yet)

The pressure switch which references the inducer isnt "making" when the system starts.
Could be the condensate trap isnt primed, a bad pressure switch, clogged tube, bad (slow) inducer fan motor, or other.
if you pull the tube off the pressure switch and suck/or blow on it when the burner starts, the contacts make and the burner should continue to run. suck or blow depends on setup.

Its not the flame sensor.

You ROCK !!
I disconnected the hose and saw that it was cracked. Cut the split off, and blew and sucked the line and I could feel and hear the switch cycling. I connected it back up and it is WORKING !!
Well done sir !!

:iagree: with the pressure switch but it might just be doing it's job. Get up there and look for a blockage might just be a birds nest or a roof rat got stuck. On mine I can pull a piece out at the furnace for inspection and cleaning. To old to risk roof hopping. :seasix:
Also does your blower fan for heat not exuast turn on? If not replace that capacitor. If you can once it fires up flix the squirrel cage with a stick to get it moving.

My heater identifies as an AC unit in the summer so it's "woke".:D

I know that when I get one, I am trouble free for a while. :Jeff '79:

That was the exact thing that was wrong with mine last winter. Cutting off the cracked end of the tube fixed it.

We do get winter here in FL, but only for two weeks and they are not made of 14 consecutive days :yesnod:

Did ya shut off the breaker?
No, and it probably ruined his good engine stand :funnier:

No, and it probably ruined his good engine stand :funnier:
Space did not allow for an engine stand, but I'd like free up the vice holding the hose on if I could.
Very common issue. Good job fixing it.

So you blew your heater to turn it on and it worked…there are just so many ways to take this.
Glad its working though!
