View Full Version : [CFB] Week 10 2022 College Football Game Day Thread [/CFB]
Week 10
Well, we have our first rankings from the College Football Playoff Committee and Tennessee is #1. Ohio State, Georgia, and Clemson round out the Top 4. Michigan and Alabama on the outside looking in at #5 and #6. Unbeaten TCU in need of a lot of help at #7.
TCU faces a decent quality opponent today, hosting previously ranked Texas Tech. Clemson plays what might be the "toughest" game of their season, facing unranked Notre Dame on the road. Michigan and Ohio State play B1G bottom-feeders. The real action is in the SEC today with 2 Top 10 match-ups. #6 Alabama plays #10 LSU in Death Valley tonight. This game routinely ends up being one of the best games of the college football season, especially when it takes place under the lights in Baton Rouge. It's also often has huge playoff implications. No difference tonight - if Alabama loses, stick a fork in 'em, they're done. They'd fall behind LSU AND Ole Miss in the West standings. If LSU loses, they're obviously done as well as they already have 2 losses.
Amazingly, Alabama - LSU isn't even the biggest game today.
GAME OF THE WEEK: #1 Tennessee @ #3 Georgia
After playing in the game of the season so far against Alabama a few weeks ago, Tennessee has to do it again, on the road this time, and face fellow unbeaten and Top 4 team, the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs. Tennessee's offense is electric, but will they be up to the task against a UGA defense that has been playing much better than Alabama's defense this season, despite losing so many stars to the NFL from last season's squad? Tennessee, in all likelihood, could wrap up a spot in the playoff with a win today. No way does a 1-loss Tennessee that beat both UGA and 'Bama get left out. Pretty clear the committee will put them in ahead of a TCU based on the 1st rankings, and they'll have a better resume than the B1G loser between Michigan and Ohio State. For UGA, a win today means they move up to #1 and they all but secure the SEC East and a trip to Mercedes Benz Stadium for the SEC title game.

That's the toughest game they've played. And they have to play the game away.

fOSU vs 1-7 Northwestern. Losses by Northwestern this year to Southern Illinois and Miami of Ohio.
Play cupcakes win the Big 10.
Georgia is so damn good.
Tennessee FINALLY has some momentum, driving, and then UGA comes up with that INT on the deep route.
DOMINANT first half for UGA so far.

Slaughter is on in Athens...
It was funny to me to see GA play a solid, but "normal for humans" game and get dumped to #3 this week. fOSU. Woody Hayes had buttsex with Joepa.

No way Tenn should be ranked that high, who didn't know it wasn't going to be a slaughter today.

Notre Dame running it down Clemson's throat
Committee looking even more effing stupid with their already absurd rankings of Tennessee ahead of UGA and Clemson in the Top 4 before today's action.

Let's face it.. There's no really good team(s) this year, they all have areas lacking.
LOL. Refs hosing LSU there. Clear replay of the ball bending the linemans finger.
Hahahaha. Refs made up for it by ignoring the blatant block in the back by Taylor.
Every week it's the same. LSU improves noticeably.
Notre Dame really isn't capable of winning it all anymore. This guy can flat out coach.
My Top 5:
1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. Ohio State
4. TCU
5. LSU
Can't put 2 loss LSU ahead of undefeated TCU. Just not fair.

I just can't understand what games the committee is watching to come up with their rankings.
Alabama showed sizeable holes in their game early on, and now they've been exposed twice.
Clemson scraped out wins against some pretty questionable opponents, and now they show their true colors.
TCU is the cardiac kid, seemingly stealing victory every single week.
I just can't watch LSU without hearing Orgeron at the end of the game:rofl: Bayou classic. Beating a top 20 team in Alabama tells me nothing.
If Georgia wasn't playing the "#1" team this week, they would have never played it safe in the second half, and likely put up 45 points against TN. Christ, that 8 minute, or whatever it was, drive to basically eat up the 3rd quarter was as good smashmouth football as I've seen in a long time.
The two fun games to look at going forward are USC/UCLA and fOSU/Mich. That's assuming that USC can get by the weak dick Bears tonight.
I have no idea who the committee will try and sneak in to the championship to play for second place, but those kids will always be able to say "at least we lost to GA."

Years like this is exactly why they should have a tournament like college basketball... Some "2nd tier" school could easily win it all this year but will never have a chance. Frankly I'm not looking forward to any post season games this year. Nothing like 2 teams squeaking by with semi decent players.
Alot of bad coaching decisions this year..
Air Force vs Army game was pretty good.

With 15 minutes of deep thought, and that the west coast games will play out as they are going now...
1) Georgia
2) Michigan
3) fOSU
4) Oregon
5) TCU (Will be surprised if they win out)
6) Tennessee
7) USC
8) Utah
9) LSU
10) UCLA
Hard to ding TN too hard, even if I believe GA pulled back to secure a win. The shellacking they put on LSU was pretty telling as well. Would have really liked to see a USC/OR match up in regular season. Likely will be the championship and someone will get screwed. TCU is still an enigma to me. They have a good record against ranked opponents, but those opponents have subsequently been shown the door. TX may surprise them next week. It's a real toss up from about #5 to #15. Teams not here? Alabama and Clemson. Total pretenders this year.
Woof :joebuck:
