View Full Version : Some People Just Don't Learn [Twitter Layoffs]

Recall a few months ago that a group of SpaceX employees sent an "open letter" to Elon Musk accusing him of being an embarrassment to the company and "demanding" that he change his rhetoric. For those who don't remember the outcome, the only thing that changed was the employment status of those people who wrote the letter. Musk fired them all.

Fast forward to October. Musk will be wrapping up the purchase of Twitter next week and has announced that he plans to let go 75% of the staff. In response, these geniuses have now crafted an open letter of their own, with their own set of "demands" that Musk not only retain their jobs, but also promise not discriminate against employees based on their political beliefs (because, Twitter was always so fair in not discriminating based on politics :spdchk: ), commit to "fair" severance policies, and be transparent about the company’s working conditions. They also said that the layoff would curtail "public conversation."

How stupid can a group of people be??? Did they not see how this strategy of the employee trying to tell the employer what to do is as retarded and short-sighted as the "defund the police" movement? Especially when the employer is the richest man in the world?

You absolutely, positively cannot make up this stupidity. Every one of these entitled pieces of shit deserves to be physically tossed out of their respective buildings. I can't wait for next week. I hope he streams the firing.

You have a point as it pertains to the job but employers don't own employees, they aren't slaves.

For example the NY Supreme Court just ordered workers who lost their jobs for refusing the Covid shot to be reinstated with backpay. I'm kinda onboard with that. I only say kinda because damage far exceeds the loss of money. Livelihoods have been ruined. The little Hitlers who decreed this crap need to be held accountable.

I was only on Twatter to monitor my son who at the time played D1 Lacrosse. As soon as they started censoring new outlets like the NY Post and conservatives around the country/world I deleted my account.
I would go back on Twatter if I saw a change. Musk may or may not make that change. Firing 75% of the woke assholes that work there would be a start.

That's 100% correct and since they are not slaves they can find a job somewhere else. The employer is not a slave to government or anyone else and can hire and fire when they please.

Some people think they have a job, they don’t; the job belongs to the employer, not the employee.

Sure - they weren't let go because their job functions weren't needed or for job performance issues.

They can't require him to keep them if he legitimately feels their positions aren't necessary. "Sorry - don't need the shadow banning department any longer."

They'll probably hire a lawyer and try but I would guess Elon is smart enough to not give them any solid grounds to contest their dismissal. I would imagine he has people strategizing things like that 24/7.

So let me get this straight, the company "you" work for is being purchased. Instead of showing your new boss how valuable "you" are to the company, you list demands and try to force behaviors favorable only to the (former) employees.

Let me know how that works out for you :funniest:

I would love to be a fly on the wall when the mass firings start.

First they came for the blue haired land whales, but I didn't have blue hair,
Then they came for the crossdressers, but I don't wear dresses,
Then they came for the weirdos who have facial piercings, but I don't have them,
Then they......shit, I hope they all get fired.

Learn to code, assholes!

Never go against the current. If you are the owner, unless he has an advisor, do your job and move on. Another group of woke pussies that feel entitled.

Other demands include that the Tesla CEO not discriminate against employees based on their political beliefs,
Well, I guess I agree with this. That being said, keep that shit at home. This is your ****in’ job and no place for either side to be spouting your party affiliations or their respective platforms.

I hope the media gets some good footage of the weeping. Twitter tears are delicious.

The 75% must be the amount of resources Twitter has committed to censorship and attempting to steer public opinion. This is a yuugh win for free speech.

I'm shocked the Biden admin hasn't thrown up a last minute road block to prevent this from closing before midterms.
Surely the FDA or some other agency can come up with a stall tactic.

Spoiled children who never heard the word "No" and have extremely strange opinions of their own worth.

Time for them to be slapped upside the face with reality.

Musk is only marginally less creepy than Dorsey.
