My hood is 133 houses behind a gate, 80+% of the kiddies that come knocking ARE NOT from the hood.
By 7:30 every hween, 100% of the kids are teenies, with no costumes, and they keep coming past 9:00.
I still give them some loose Pez, raisins and candy corn remnants, but never get an answer when I ask about their non-costumes.

I knew you were one of those. When I was a kid we used to soap your windows and egg your vehicles.

Houses are at least 1/4 mile apart with driveways just as long some much further. I just don't understand how lazy kids have become. :sadangel:

Eggs and soap? Kids can't afford stuff like that now due to Brandonflation.

I'm one of those and I personally guarantee that nobody will be soaping my windows or egging my vehicles.

It was 1975-ish. Nobody was beating up 13 year olds for soaping windows tough guy. :Jeff '79:

Sounds like my place. I'm quite a ways off the road and there are no kids within 5 miles. Hell we do not even get Jehovah's Witnesses up here, it is so desolate after the flatlanders shut down their camps and leave.:hurray:

PS this is so much different from where I used to live in a large suburb, 3 large developments with in a mile from the house. It was nothing to see cars drop off their kids at the school parking lot down the road. They would then trick or treat in large groups back to their houses.
The town finely passed a ordnance that said no Halloween begging after 8.30PM. It was nothing to see them out at 11 or later.

Locked gate. 900 foot long driveway. And then there is the small matter of the Russian guard dogs. :D

Hey I only lived there I'm not a town councilman.:D

I lived in Albany as a kid and we raised a lot of hell on that night. Spraying shaving cream and other items. Soaped many a window. One Halloween night we got the school (6 grade) goodie two shoes teachers pet. You know the one that after the bell rang and we got up she would yell O teacher you did not give us homework or was a serious tattle tail. We got her and wound 3 rolls of flypaper in her very long hair.

End result she had to get most of her hair cut off. When we went to mass Sunday I could swear the priest on the pulpit was looking at me when he talked about it. He was rather pissed off.

Funny thing about this she was quite upset for about a couple weeks but then had a change, no longer the tattle tail or teacher pet. She turned into a rather nice and well liked person. A few years latter we even dated a bit!

Yes I did, and it always happened in the late afternoon/early evening - plenty of time to finish by 8:30 PM. The only kids out later than that are too old to be trick-or-treating anyway, and they're probably more interested in TPing houses than collecting candy. :yesnod:

About the same distances here. Have not had any kid stop by since we built the house 31 years ago. I still buy candy just in case.

Any of the little bastages knock on my door, they will be getting frozen lima beans. One per trick-or-treater. Those Hundred Thousand Dollar bars are all mine. :yesnod:

The last 26 years we lived in a 'hood with large suburban homes and Halloween was an event. Now that we downsized to The Cabin it will be a lot different. I'm not expecting any visitors.
