View Full Version : DAB, Remember This?
Just changed the oil in the C7, while sitting, I glanced off in the corner at this old 90mm Howitzer shell my Dad gave me when I was a teenager, a long time ago.
It was stored away for about 50 years until I buffed out the brass and DAB made me an inert explosive tip. My Dad was in Army Ordnance during WWII in Europe.

Alan, go have a beer. You are overstressed. Norm isn't in the same zip code as brag threads. The munition that Doug helped Norm build is priceless.

Some of the American Civil War cannon balls my friend dug over the years at our local battlefield. It was all private property when he was digging though.
These are 12lb solid shot and a few Borman fused cannonballs. Also, one Hotchkiss explosive shell.
I have dug a similar Hotchkiss myself and only a few ft. away from it a 12lb solid shot.
They went at it for 3 days here. I wish I had the ordnance dept. reports for the battle. But, I can promise you truckloads of artillery shells have come out of here.
I have also dug many 'frags' which are the pieces of an exploded shell.
Also, just one of the 5 gallon buckets of bullets he dug in his lifetime. Can you imagine all the shells, bullets flying through the air during the battle trying to kill people?
This is just part of one mans collection. People have relic hunted and dug truckloads of similar over the decades from the battlefield.
And remember..this isn't Europe or the Pacific. The Civil War happened in most all our backyards and neighborhoods. Can you imagine hearing the armies are on the march and about to enter your town? 100k or more troops? Artillery, cavalry, infantry, etc....
