Hey Mr Warmth, any back story on this caper? How you hatched it, what transpired over the years, what did you pay. Stuff like that.
So, I'll be brief but I found this '67 sitting outside on a driveway like 5 1/2 years ago. Just so happened the homeowner was outside playing with her kids, so I stopped and inquired. Super nice of this young woman, she says my husband will be home shortly and invites me in. We had a great conversation. Husband comes home and says, Yes, the car might be available, we will ask my FIL...Over the next several weeks and several texts messages, they shoot me a number, shame to admit I was not able to gather the amount at the time...Then over the next few months, I drive by while in their neighborhood, the car is gone! I text again and ask if it was sold, but no! Just moved to another location. I guess out of sight out of mind, plus the fact I didn't have the money, kinda gave up....Fast forward 5+ years, to just a few months ago, I really don't recall what reminded me or why I even thought about the car, I texted them asking if the car was still around, to my surprize the answer was yes, and now it really is really to be sold. We texted back and forth, finally last evening we met, and I wrote the check! In preparation for the sale they had it repaired just enough to make it running and driving but left it virtually untouched. It's so original I'm just tickled, as I am the true originality lover! The car is still at their house but paid lock stock and barrel, I'm actually going to drive it home this weekend!!!! So excited I could barely sleep last night!!!

Zeekster, this car cures a life long dream! Since my first ride in a '67 BB with my Uncle Robbie back in '68! It was a rollercoaster experience to a kid. I now have the Mid year, I've always wanted!

You really have too many projects going on now so I wouldn't hold your breath!
And I guess the anchor will sit for another few decades collecting dust, NOT THIS BAD BOY!:D

More pictures to come!

Thanks all for the thumbs up! Means a lot, really!!

Looks like it is in good shape to be stored so long. Appears to be complete. Gonna be a nice one. Actually you could just clean it real well and it would be a very nice survivor.

Actually, you may prefer that after you got it cleaned up.

Yup, the paint got hammered over the last five years, it's toast....The interior is awesome, mechanical looks super original, it was hard to get anything from the chassis-pipes block off access, but solid frame, surface rust as you'd expect.:seasix:

I restored a '65 and '66. I loved and know midyears very well. Let me know, if you have any questions. CF C1/C2 section had super knowledgeable people in that group at one time and were always willing to help.

Some stay out of the C1/C2 section. We only had one MasterDave in there for most of the time and he was like the rest of us. Only interested in the cars and no BS. I haven't been there in a long time, but it was a great section with no BS.

Trim tag info? Are those the original colors? Motor? Etc...Glad you got it! I would make it reliable and not go crazy with it. Drive it and enjoy.

983 Paint/430 Trim - base motor (300hp a rarity to find NOT changed out to a BB) All original drivetrain, paint, interior, etc. That is exactly the plan, to clean it up, and drive it for a while! I learned my lesson on a '72 that there' no way you're getting out alive trying to do a frame off! Few minor things to shop for but definatly not going full blown (yet)! :D

Man, a car of my dreams, :seasix:

1969.
I was 16 when my brother bought a BB '67 coupe.
Factory side pipes, 4 speed. Maroon with a black cowl section on the hood.
My mother gave me a ride to school in it one day (my brother was at training camp at the time, he enlisted in the reserves).
A little too expensive for my budget, but best of luck with it.

Congrats on the mid-year and you have a great back story to go with it. Looking forward to watching your progress. My two grail cars are a 65-67 mid-year and a Series 1 XKE. I should have bought that '65 327/365 car I found in '69. I was 17 and had most of the $ saved up but needed a small loan from the Bank of Daddy to seal the deal and he would have not any part in a 4 year old car for $3000.

Hope the build is everything you've wanted.

Now if I could just convince my wife to sell our RV...

Nice!

If it's a '67 then it has a '66 hood. I think they're the only ones with the Corvette script on the drives side front corner.

Do you know how to look and see if the tank sticker is still in place? It would be great to preserve it if possible and if it's there! I imagine it's a St. Louis car if the side exhaust is from the factory vs A.O. Smith.

Yes, let’s keep our fingers crossed on finding the tank sticker and in good condition! Yep, she’s a St Louis built baby!

I do understand, going to be a tough decision....could swap it out? lol

I'm not going to swap it out. I have said this car is "my last antique", but there are a few exceptions. Also, I think the car has enough original stuff on it that someone COULD bring it back to Top Flight condition if they wanted to spend the money on it, the main reason being that I think the drivetrain is essentially untouched since new.

Add to that the fact that I told my wife I was thinking of selling it, and buying a C8, and she had no conceptual problem with that. :yesnod:

Yep. But most of those great guys have been banned permanently, although a couple have passed on. They just banned Tom Parsons, (DZAUTO) a C1 and driveline guru, for over a month over an engine discussion. The moderators there are low class, power-drunk punks who aren't worthy to shine Tom's boots.
