Finally Got My Favorite Wheels On

Had the gang over today, just helping me futz around.

One selling point on the '81 was the Cragar SS's, great looking wheel...... but......, I want my favorite C3 wheel, the rallye with the derby center cap and without the wobbly trim ring.

Yes I know, not the period correct wheel for the '81, don't care, never liked the Kelsey Hayes style aluminum wheel. Not vying for any NCRS status either, just a neat look to me.

Putting the Cragars on my buddy's '59, he wants a new look and ride. So far everyone is happy.

Got a year or more before re-paint, something to think about.

What did you use on the tires? They look good too.

Just a rag and bucket of water, sprayed a 50/50 solution of Simple Green on the tire, took several wipe downs, came out nice. I use no tire black gunk, can't stand the stuff.

I never liked color matching the steel wheel, flat black maybe, IMO, I woould stay with the original grey/silver color, compliments the wheel better.

I gotta admit, I was a little leery when I first saw those wheels. But now that you have them mounted, I think they look amazing on your Vette! I especially like that the wheel itself is chrome. Really pops with the dark paint...:seasix: (the Cragars look great on the 58!)

Oh no, it's me. The '86 C4 is a permanent driveway ornament, does not move, won't even title and tag it. It's not a Malcolm Konner original either, that's been verified. :D

The swap of wheels look great on both Vette's. I found some cleaner on one of the detailing sites which does a spectacular job on the tires. Gives them a good clean and brings the black out of the rubber. I already packed it back in Indiana. It came in the mystery box from detailers domain.
