What do you use? Looking for at least a 1T for storing movies and some pics. The movies are averaged 2gb so not that big.
My old external is not SSD and I fear losing everything on it and having to my start my collection over
What you got and how long has it lasted?

How about a network book and no more moving it around?

I have no idea what that is and the more complicated, the more pissed off I get. Trying to stick to what I know :seasix:

Again, I don't know how all that works. My patience is thin and I don't want to start breaking shit.
External drive, download to it, unplug it plug it in where she wants it, done :cert:
Western digital MyBook.

I can stream all my homemade porn movies to all my TVs.

Snag a WD 32 terabyte HD, data redundant, and with a UPS is all you'll ever need. It's just a big external HD. :)

32 TB is a bit extreme 1 Tb is good enough for us

External memory is so cheap now that I go overboard in saving important files. I have a large amount of raw photo images I've taken and need to save long term. At first I was buying 1Gig SSD for it, now 30 gig or more is just as cheap, so I buy that size. In addition, I often buy two drives and save the same thing to both. One gets used, the other stored in case of failure of a drive. Pretty much all the major brand names are good quaility drives for me so far.

I use a Seagate 4TB for the same price...but its HDD.
both are USB connected, select 3.0 or 3.2....both are about the size of a wallet.

The original drive failed for a reason. Get what you can off of it and get the SSD external drive.
I had a friend of mine get one of these recently and he's happy with it.

Exactly how I felt about my old laptop.
I swapped out my old MacBook drive with a Samsung SSD about four years ago. It's still going strong. The SSD increased performance so much that my 12yo laptop doesn't need replacing.
I use Bestbuy because I want to be sure I get a new product.

I have at 2 SSD drives and 1 old HDD external drive for backups and to move around between my devices. Best part when I unplug them they are not connected to the internet.
My experience with NAS drives is they are sometimes a bitch to get working across your network. I used a WD NAS for years and it was unreliable as a network drive. Sometimes I could access it and sometimes it was a bitch.
Then I get this e-mail from WD that and NAS owner of a certain model needs to check it because WD found out they were being hacked and all info lost. I hadn't been on mine for a few months and sure enough all my data was gone. Luckily I'm not stupid and have other backups of that data. I will never buy anther NAS type drive because of this.
BTW I took my old NAS drive apart, ditched the NAS circuit board and formatted the 2TB HDD then bought a HDD/USB adaptor and now it is permanently connected to my smart TV via USB with all my movies and videos on it. Works great and again not connected directly to the internet.
I use these https://smile.amazon.com/Netac-External-Portable-Aluminium-Expansion/dp/B088BTSWV4/ref=sr_1_4?crid=LP52F1JLTFFS&keywords=netac%2Bssd&qid=1650323803&sprefix=neat%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-4&th=1
We used them at work to transfer data or back up one drive as people were retiring or changing positions. Fast and reliable.

Turns out that I have a SSD hard drive I forgot about. It is only a 160 GB drive. I guess I did not want to spend another 10 or so bucks for a bigger one. :slap:

Not something I'd brag about...
