Its coming up on 3 yrs for my sisters lung transplant at UCSF.

Congrats! Do you stay in any kind of contact with the guy whose organs you got? It seems a little weird. If I lost my loved one and that loved one's organs went on to save someone else, it would make me feel good to know that at least a part of my loved one was living on. Do you send a card or note every year, or is it just too awkward for everyone?
Edit: In Texas, that used to be done by a notation on a driver's license, but I guess not anymore.

for Kidneys... they rarely remove bad kidneys for a transplant (unless they are cancerous).
I received my kidney transplant in 1980; and still have the original pair. I now have 3, though only one is doing any productive work.
