What ****ing genius thought writing logic into car software that BREAKS THE LAW was a good idea? Stop signs are not suggestions, they are an absolute. Huge pet peeve of mine is people who role through stop signs. My neighbors blow through ours at 20+ miles per hour. Thinking about video taping them and putting up a shame website.

Link (https://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/tesla-recall-full-driving-software-runs-stop-signs-82596066)

The “rolling stop” feature let the Teslas go through all-way stop signs as long as the owner enabled the function. The vehicles have to be traveling below 5.6 mph while approaching the intersection, and no “relevant” moving cars, pedestrians or bicyclists can be detected nearby. All roads leading to the intersection had to have speed limits of 30 mph or less, the documents said. The Teslas would then be allowed to go through the intersection at 0.1 mph to 5.6 mph without coming to a complete stop.

That is not an enabled feature within the software, it has to be manually turned on by the driver thereby passing on the liability to the driver/owner.

I also believe this is not in any of the current releases, but proposed in a future software update. (Remember, you have to have a 99 or 100 rating before you are even allowed to turn on FSD in the first place, and even right now it is still in the beta testing mode)

Oh, and you have to PAY for FSD...which is now $12,000 for each car.

But hey, if you like to let the media tell you how to feel, more power to you. I like to do my homework and learn about things before I make decisions

Depends on the neighborhood. There are certain neighborhoods you shouldn't roll through in the first place but mistakes in navigation do happen from time to time (especially if you're out exploring) and you better be prepared to break the law if you want to improve your odds of leaving alive.

THE LARGEST hazard that promotes the fail to stop habit is......

LANDSCAPING!!! out on the corner, hedges/trees/etc that block the vision until the front of the car is WAY in hell out in the intersection before the driver can see down the cross street if anything is coming......even IF one stops, need pull forward and stop again to SEE WTF is happening......

Fences, bushes/landscaping needs be stopped near any intersection.....

HELL, say the same for many DRIVEWAYS......

Humans roll through stop signs far more often and far more obliviously than FSD ever will. Unlike human drivers, FSD is aware of every vehicle and pedestrian in the immediate area, and will not treat the stop sign as a yield sign unless it is 100% safe to do so. Human drivers? Not so much.

I think you can guess which one infuriates me more...

Too bad Tesla FSD can't recognize fire trucks.

How many times has FSD (as distinct from AutoPilot) crashed into a firetruck How many times have human drivers crashed into firetrucks?

How many BEV vehicles have caught on fire? How many ICE vehicles?

Sensationalism sells, which is why the MSM reports on every mishap involving an EV while ignoring similar mishaps involving ICE vehicles and/or human drivers, skewing public perception of the actual dangers.

You're the last person I would expect to draw conclusions based on what he sees in the MSM.

I don’t trust FSD vehicles unless ALL vehicles on the road are FSD. No matter how brilliant the software, the human element will always find a bug in the code. Code I had online for years would suddenly fail after a Java update or a undetermined sequence of keystrokes.

The "shitbag performance" feature is another $4k.

It includes:

Turn signal delete
Constant brake light illumination
Low beam delete
Speed control at 5mph below posted limit
Left lane only functionality

I wouldn't want the self driving feature, even if it was standard. There are a few modern conveniences I like, the backup cameras and sensors in the bumper are great, turn indicators in the side mirrors are great, too.

Other than that, not much is new that I'd want. I guess the lane change warning systems would be OK, too, although I've never had a vehicle with that system.

Well it's also the law that you're not supposed to do a rolling stop. If you're going to have a car that does things automatically it should follow the rules

Otherwise drive the damn thing yourself and do the rolling stop

Yep it was me. I was also the one who had a Dodge too. And if you knew how few places I took that Lamborghini you'd be amazed. The girl I was dating at the time, we went out 6 times before she even knew I had the car, and she found out by accident. It was OK, but I wouldn't have another if I was given one.

FWIW...I've gotten as many compliments about this car as I have about my 4 Corvettes combined, and it's really nothing special as a Mercedes goes. If you really want a "mine is bigger than yours" car, pull up in an SL65 with the V12 badge on the side.

And if I had to pick who to gift it to, you'd be among the first. :yesnod:
