Occasionally I have these odd "Jack Handy" thoughts flow through my head. I don't even get high, but I can think like a stoner.

Here is one.

Suppose in the future, oil is banned, or has been depleted, or for some reason unavailable. Now imagine 500 years from now people start mining for plastic. We are so concerned about plastic in the oceans and landfills but should consider, this plastic may be like diamonds or coal one day. People will be rich after discovering tons of plastic buried under their property. It can be recycled to make new plastic.

Virgin plastic has some useful properties but recycled does not. It's hard and brittle. Did some development work with regrind and found it lacks functionality due to being a short chain polymer.

Won't be able to mine oceans and landfills for it in hundreds of years because it breaks down with age into microplastics. If you want those they can be obtained anywhere because it is everywhere. They're being distributed globally by precipitation. Bring a microscope.
