That's what's left,..... of the rusted off bed support rail. The bed itself has only one small hole. That patch panel, should be here today!:seasix:

Will be nice to have it all exposed so you can get a thorough coat sprayed on.
Don't know what the Hell PA uses on their roads but it reminds me of MI. I remember 5 year old cars with rust through holes in the door bottoms.
I'm probably less than 15 mins from you in Hanover Twp/Bethlehem.

I suppose you live in the Northeast? A lot of money down the drain in rusted vehicles up there.

I would have to have a beater car to drive in the winters there. I couldn't stand to watch a nice vehicle dissolve before my very eyes.

Jeez, what they put on the roads? Acid? If that’s a F250 after 10, what happens to a Japanese truck?
ICNLT…. Worse we see here is due to brine on the roads

Hmmm, this is a pretty well known Ford POS issue.....The local shop said this one isn't too bad....Maybe, the newer aluminum framed cars will last longer?

Lil bro had a “Fairlasy 240z, a prototype 70 240z”. One of 14…
Ya could sit there and watch it rust away in front of ya. Big money car today but what a high maintenance body/ frame POS

There's a guy in my office that has an Airbnb beside him (he lives on the lake) and every year a couple of guys come down from Canada and rent for the week and buy 5 or 6 truck beds and take them back up. Of course they couldn't during this border/Covid thing but he said they've done it for about 5 years.

What did you use to bust the nuts?
While I prefer a brunette, 5'4" 125 C cup, :D this time I opted for the grinder and took the heads off each of the 8 bolts. You can see the remaining bolt shafts in the frame rails, I still have to remove, easy task now, simply cut the J clips off and bingo!
Really, the toughest part of the job is the removal of the rusted bed support rails, grinding and drilling each spot weld....

My F250 was similar. The bed was held on by 2 1/2 bolts. Ended up having a military trailer installed as a bed. Kept it for a year, then sold it. It was an '06 that lived a harsh life in Maine before I bought it.
But yeah, salt will kill a perfectly good truck in 10 years. :yesnod:

Bed repairs complete and she's ready for another 10 years of service! State inspection set up for Wednesday! She got a new exhaust and rear shocks while the bed was off. Toughest part, was removing the old rotted rails, the rest was downhill! My doogies are excited to go for the bye bye ride!!!!:hurray::dance:

Why State Inspection? Did it fail a safety test before?

When you live in the South a 2007 F250 is still in one piece. I wonder how much the cars are worth that they throw away every year due to salt damage.

Boneyards are full of 10 year old rotted out cars up north. I'm surprised every time go up there. Lots of parts cars so find tons of good parts cheap except for body parts.
It's surprising how many newer cars are still rotted out with all the paint and corrosion prevention there is.
Sil/Bil get new cars every 4 or 5 years max and they're already rusting out.
Thankfully I live in the South.
