My mom and her 13 brothers and sisters all left Minnesota as soon as they were old enough to get the Fk out. My mom said she hated the summers worse than the winters. Eight month of winter four month of shitty weather and the politics suck even more.

The crime and political bs keeps me away the weather is just one more reason.

I have a coworker who moved up there last year due to working from home status change. Hes been telling me about some of the weather prep hes had to do to his house, water lines below 4ft and all that bs, no thank you.

snowbird - Woodbury guy - at my Phoenix home right now thankfully. From Grand Forks ND - it is insanely cold there now.

Our son and two grandsons live in Bismarck, ND. We went up there for Christmas a few years ago. That will never, EVER happen again.

Meaningless numbers. Windchill's only relative to bare skin. Nobody walks around outside without warm clothing when it gets like that.

Had a client in Minneapolis a few years ago. First trip there was in January, where the temps were well below zero. No thanks. Had to go again in the summer time, during black fly season. Ugh. If I never have to go to MN again, I'm good.

I've been to Minneapolis a few times in the dead of winter and lived in NH for 20 years. Cold had an appeal when we had kids at home and we wanted them to enjoy three seasons.

We just got back from a trip to NH and had to walk the dog in 16 degree temps. When we got home to Florida we just sat back and enjoyed the heat for the first two days.

Two weeks highs below zero with lows - 20 or so was enough for me. Working in those temps aged me 10 years in one year so said no more. Left cars running for a week plus, chimney kept icing up so you'd have to knock ice off or furnace would stop. Spent my off work hours thawing pipes(drains too) for ourselves or the older people in neighborhood and attempting to get cars to start for them.
Warmed up one day and that night dropped big time so everything iced over, came down a hill sideways/backwards and TA ended up on top of pile of ice high centered. Working at 5am had its disadvantages. Back then sanding wasn't common and trucks didn't run much at night either.
Heating bills were absolutely astronomical too... Took me 3 months to pay one month off.

No thanks. Looks like you are sending a little down south. It’ll be in the 50’s Monday. That will significantly bump up my electric bill. Damn, I’ll have to wear long sleeves.

The NHL Winter Classic is being played there tonight... yes... tonight, at 7pm. EST. If any player blocks a shot, they just might shatter into a million little pieces of frozen human all over the ice.

The dogs were all panting like crazy , obviously terrified of the fireworks, that went on for hours and hours. I mean, these old ladies were absolutely terrified. I turned the AC on since it was a humid mid 70's inside the house and turned the TV up, to try and calm them down. Having said that, NONE of them would step outside to do any business, so this morning I had to clean up 1 and 2 on the carpet

It was a bad night, but thankfully none of us froze to death, so there's that.

No thank you, there one time, I can say I've been there.
Prefer the Mid Atlantic area, a little bit of all the seasons.

My mom is a Litchfield alumni and I lived there for a year when my Dad had an unaccompanied overseas assignment. I remember going ice skating and my mom having to soak my skate encrusted feet in hot water to get the skates off.

Bad enough that it’s cold but that it’s a liberal crap hole now too, is just too much. Not that Nebraska is much better weather wise but reasonably sane overall. Working towards moving to Florida and / or New Hampshire and join the Free State Project.

I lived in Portsmouth for about 4 years when Pease afb was open. Lots of fond memories and the Free State project picked NH as their home.

Winter sucks but not as bad as big government and high taxes. Loved summers there, Lobsta and “wicked moisty’s” everywhere. :yesnod:

I’m working towards having a place in both states and snowbirding. Mom is still alive and I have a lot of family here in Nebraska so I’m struggling with leaving at the moment.

NH is slowly turning Blue. All the Senators and Representatives are Democrats and the state legislators are mainly blue.

After washing, before you proceed out, do you have to wipe all the water out from door ways so it doesn't freeze up on you, like can't get the door open? :D

We're gonna get a cold front on Monday. It'll be a high of 73. Otherwise, we've been mid-80's for all of December. Hope January cools off a bit.

I used to blink one eye at a time riding my motorcycle in cold weather because my eyelids would freeze shut. They get sticky and need to be forced open. It's a really weird delayed reaction. Can hear them snap open

No other problems until it gets down to about -60F at which point inhaling air requires some effort due to the increased density. It's sort of like trying to breath water. But that's a good thing, it allows time for the air to warm before it gets to your lungs.

For sure. I open all the doors, including the hood and tailgate and wipe it all down.

It's going to stay colder than hell for a few days so it'll stay pretty clean until the next warmup. You know, 25° or so. :Jeff '79:

H-Town got it, too. It was low 80's yesterday, woke up this morning to mid 30's. WTF, people? What's the point of living in the 3rd World part of America if we don't at least enjoy tropical weather?

I have a couple of sweatshirts, a coat that I haven’t worn in a while with gloves in the pocket. I think I have a toboggan somewhere. And a couple of fleece jackets that I might wear in Jan and Feb.
