There is a song that is entitled “A big Ball in Cowtown” which refers to either large testicles or a cowboy dance in Ft. Worth. Katie is from Fort Worth so I called off the song. Had to use my phone to look up the lyrics!

I should have a video of it shortly. Next month we swing all the way to Soul music. I envision musical whiplash.

I've heard the song since I was a kid and listen to Bob Wills as an adult but never attempted any of that material. I knew if I whipped it out - the players would nail it (bass man was in The Wheel for a while too...)

It says “Defenistrator” which means “to eject from a window”. Very inside joke between Greg Koch and I. (It’s the name of one of his albums)

It’s a custom made tele with Fishman Fluence “Greg Koch Gristle Tone” signature pickups. It has a lithium battery that recharges via tiny USB port that lasts for 100 hours.

I had a laser etching dude pit paisley on the hardware. I did the finish in organic lacquer. It was assembled and set up by George Straits guitar tech.

I absolutely love it. There is a little button between the knobs. It’s a clean boost. The other great thing is I can turn down the volume and not lose any highs.

It sounds exactly the same but quieter. It also is dead quiet with vintage amp. (60 cycle hum is a huge problem with old amps.)

I have known Greg since the mid 80’s. Before he got somdamn famois, we performed around Milwaukee (Shank Hall!). I also inherited his rhythm section “The Tone Controls” for six years.

More recently, I produced some shows for him in Austin.
