View Full Version : Sold the Mustang 5.0 - What Now?

I sold my 17 Mustang GT to Carvana a few weeks ago. The car was in immaculate shape with 3700 miles. I liked the car, but I never really warmed up to it to be honest. No emotional attachment etc.
So...on to something else.
I'm really considering either a 96 LT4 or C5 Z06. I would also consider a late 90's LT1 car if it was clean and stock with low mileage and the 6 speed. My budget is about 20k-25k. If any of you all have a lead on any clean unmodified and low mileage examples of those cars, PM me!
I should be able to make a move at the end of the month. In the middle of refinancing our cabin right now.

An unmolested C5 Z06 is the holy grail of Corvettes. Good luck on your search.

Yeah, they are a bit of a unicorn. I've seen them though, they are out there. :kimblair:
One of the Vette dealers has a 94 Black/Red Interior with a 6 speed manual and 8900 miles. Tempted, but will probably keep looking.

Well, then, I hope your expectations are as low as your budget.

I'd be interested in a C5 Z06.

I barely post on this forum anymore anyway. Not out of butt hurt, just got other things going on. :island14:
Regardless, I don’t care if y’all make fun of me. You are just a bunch of folks that don’t know me anyway. :):seasix:

Does it have to be a performance car? A luxury land yacht would make for some nice cruising. :yesnod:
I had my grandfather's 76 Buick Electra 225 limited ( 2 door) and although it wouldn't set any speed records, it was one of the nicest riding vehicles I ever had. It's like having a steering wheel on your lazyboy recliner :D
Previous to that he had a '69 Electra 225 that moved pretty good. iirc, that had a 425 in it

My Dad had a '76 Buick Electra Park Avenue with the 455. Not a sports car, but it had some giddy up. I actually drove that car from Vancouver to Ottawa in '86. Very comfortable riding car. Was pretty fast too. Gas mileage wasn't all that great, but it had more than enough torque.

We may not have met, but we've known you for several years, from your posts here and there. You're always welcome to post here. If we do bust your balls, it is all in good fun.
I understand that life happens and shit, but you're always welcome to post here. Especially the traffic reports.

We have a member here with a 1990 C4 with an optional booster seat. Don't listen to these reprobates get what you want. I like the lines of the 91-96 Vettes. A 96 LT-4 would'd be nice. :yesnod:

This will be a weekend toy, those types of cars aren’t really my thing.
I’m considering a few other cars. Even thought about another C3. Market on those are pretty soft right now, but I would like something a bit more modern with a few creature comforts.

A chrome bumper, with a modern chassis and LS engine would be pretty cool... :yesnod:

I was a bit pissed as there was a low mileage 96 LT4 CE with red interior for sale within the last few weeks. That's really the car I wanted. Actually before I bought the '73 that was the car I was looking for. Had to pass it up due to this refinance bullshit and it sold. :(
Well, on a side note, I have time. Not going to rush into anything. I'm an impatient person and have a tendency to react on impulse. The right car will come along. With an empty garage, I've been taking the opportunity to organize and clean up in there. I've also got some other household projects that I have procrastinated to keep me occupied. :seasix::seasix:

A C5 is so far advanced over C4. You can find a lot of C5s in your price range although a Z06 may be stretching it. I don’t have my 99 coupe anymore. Have a 2016 Stingray which I love

I have seen some C6 Z06's in the low 40's, but they look a bit beat on. Clean ones are in the 50k range it seems.
Meanwhile low mileage C5 Z06's are available for low to mid 30k range. :yesnod:
I'm going to be patient and wait for the right car. :yesnod:
I posted my Camaro on fb marketplace for what I thought was a stupid price, and I have someone very interested.
I may be in the market soon too.

I was completely astonished how much I got for my Mustang GT. I sold it to Carvana. Used car market is insane right now for sure.

Yup, unfortunately anything you (or I) would be interested in will be crazy high now too.
I listed my 2011 SS for $26.5k, and I may have a buyer.
Crazy thing is I am still having second thoughts.

I have owned two. I would consider it, but the car would have to be solid. I don’t want to mess with suspension work first of all.
Regardless, game on! Sign the papers for the refi Saturday! The hunt officially begins! :hurray::kimblair:

That's certainly a consideration. I was really wanting to keep it local, but I do have several friends with airplanes. It's feasible to have one of them give me a lift a state over and drive it back.
